Hi, I would really appreciate an ID on these crustaceans found 2019 at Miami, Mermaid And Nobby beaches on the Gold Coast, Australia. I've done some basic research and came up with Pliocene era. Thankyou so much!

While I was on the crab topic I also found three nodules that I popped but didn't want to take the chance prepping due to their size. Are these small crabs worth prepping in the condition they are in?

Good evening folks. I have several crab caprice that all look like the same species to me. Can anyone tell me if I'm correct and what species they are. Sorry, no information other than "some of Grandpa's rocks" .

We finished our trip to California just over a week ago. We stop at Jalama Beach but found no fish. I only found these 2 fossils but do not know what they are.

Not really (the title). @Ash and I are currently staying at a lovely cabin furbished to look like an early settler's homestead while we are on holidays looking for fossilized crabs from the Cretaceous. We got here at 2:30 p.m. yesterday after a 12 hr drive from waking at 2:30 a.m. and leaving at 3:15 a.m. After settling in and having roast beef sandwhiches for a late lunch, we spent 3 hrs in the evening looking and managed to find four confirmed Torynomma quadrata crabs and brought back a few concretions to split for later. We also might have found a nautilus of sorts? Unsure of the correct term. We snacked on crackers with meats and cheeses for 'dinner'. This morning, Ash made us maple-glazed bacon, eggs, and toast for brekkie. We then looked for another couple hours, managing to find only one more crab (Tory again) and some ammonites (heteromorphs). Came back and had another roast beef sandwhich (toasted with swiss cheese and wholegrain mustard), had a swim in the pool, then took a rinse and had a cup of tea. We'll head back out for another few hrs here soon, have dinner (pot roast), then possibly a soak in the outdoor bathtubs (????). Then repeat tomorrow before heading back home Will update as we can-wish us luck!

I got back from my last fossil hunting trip just 3 days ago. My middle son did all the work but im the one who came home a bit beat up! I was rather tired on this trip but it was still a lot of fun. I stopped by some freinds of mine and bought some more of those agatized Aturia and then stayed with some more friends of mine and did some trading with them. With the few crab concretions we found and the ones I traded for I came home with a few more to prep this winter. Only thing I didnt like about this trip was the rain! and the traffic on I-5 passing Tacoma!!! RB This is at the end of driving aaaaaaaaal day long and having a drink. The rains just started and didnt stop till noon the following day! Here is a crate of crab balls from 2 different sites. A very lovely sight for a crab guy. Here are some crab balls I traded for. The one in plastic, (3 pieces), is the one I'm most excited about. Should be a very large and very nice crab!!! With these 5 Aturia I now have 10. These are one of my most favorite fossil! My youngest son was in eastern Montana while I was in Washington. This is not the best fossil but still purty cool. This looks to have been preditated apon but still makes for a realy cool ammo on concretion!

Hi All I've really been enjoying getting out and about here in New Zealand and hunting for fossils and taking some video footage at the same time. I'm still a beginner and find that by posting the videos I get some good info from the more experienced people across the world. I was gonna call this a monthly round up but I just realized it's been four months, adjusting to new job has had me messed up. I've only gone to 2 locales in 4 months and I'm having withdrawals. Anyway, I stopped at a outcrop of buda formation for about 30 minutes while the family went shopping, the buda had given me 2 graptocarcinus carapaces previously so I was looking specifically for that, I found what I thought was a carapace but it turned out to be a chela with just a nub of a dactyl, unfortunately the finger got broken off somewhere in between getting it out of the ground and getting it home. I assume this is graptocarcinus but I have not found any pictures of the chela.

I did a tad bit of major clean up on my prep bench. Trying to get ready to start prepping some fishy's. Its not done but did find some things that have been buried for awhile. Some of these are now in the fossil room. Still have over halfway to go and wondering what I will be finding. Nice to be able to see some of my bench though. RB

I just noticed on one of our favorite auction sites a fellow selling fossil crabs from Java and called Lophoxanthus scaberrimus. My jaw dropped to the floor! Just another reminder to be watchful and careful what you purchase. Good luck RB

I thought I would check out a small exposure of what I think is Buda formation, I wasn't expecting much but I thought maybe I might get lucky, boy did I. The most interesting finds were two crab carapaces IDed as graptocarcinus texanus, (thanks Dan) enough talking, pictures!

Hello all- I am in the early stages of planning a fossiling outing to TX and OK in March. Would any of you folks be willing to either point me or take me to sites out there? There are a lot of different fossil in these states and I have been in touch with a few forum members already, but I would appreciate any help any one can offer. I have Waurika and the Wilson Clay Pit o the list already. I imagine I can do NSR solo, but anyone who would be willing to show me around there would be a hero. I don't plan to go as far as Houston but Austin maybe for Whiskey Bridge.... A crab would be a real prize... or a TX trilobite. Many Thanks. Answer here or PM me.

Ok, when I wake up, drowzy, make some coffee, then into the computer room. This is what I see. Lots more in the display cases behind me with no room left! Then I open the top drawer, more crab fossils, forgot about those. Lots more in the garage! then I realize, there are two more in the glove boxes of my 2 trucks. Now I wonder where else I have more? We all have problems. We all need help. but for me, Im not sure how I can find a cure? But for now, I will just smile and go on. This is a problem I can live with. All I need now is more to prep. Do I have a disease? RB

I bought two crab concretions from a guy about 3 weeks ago. Not happy with these concs, but if you don't gamble you don't win. In this case, I lost. These will be b-grade crabs. Simply not good enough to make it into my crab collection. In the second picture you can see what I see when I sit back and just look at what ive done. In this case, Im sittin back and lookin at how im doing with the 'rock smoothing'. Lookin purty good for a b-grade piece of cow poop. Im also very spoiled. Belive me, with what I payed for these and the amount of time spent,,,, after I sell these dang things I will hopefully make about $10 an hour!!! Just letting you know that there is no moneys to be made on prepping fossil crabs. Oh, these are Pulalius vulgaris from the Lincoln Creek Formation in Washington and Eocene in age. RB
