Real or fake dinosaur footprints?
juan posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi everybody . Here's the story: somedays ago, one friend showed me this specimen. It was bought by her mother 4 years ago, but didn't knew the species and if it's real or not. I told her it's a Grallator footprints, probable Jurassic, but I wasn't sure if some of the footprints are real or fake What do you think? All the best and stay safe Juan- 19 replies

Hey! These are just a few of the bones I found recently which were all found near each other in horseshoe canyon AB. I found what I believe to be albertosaurus teeth and a piece of a hadrosaur jaw as well with them which makes me assume they are from one of those two species. However, I need help identifying which species each one might be from and what part of the dinosaur they are. If you need measurements I'm happy to post pics next to a ruler!

Dinosaur fossil from China?
Crazyhen posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Any idea what is this? Dinosaur, reptile or primitive amphibian? It was found in Jiangxi, of Cretaceous formation. It measures about 40cm. -
Hi! I have a couple of bones that I would love some help with. The first appears to be a metacarpal perhaps (?), about 2.5" long - of unknown origin. I received it in two pieces, with a bit of the surrounding matrix still intact. The matrix is rust-colored & grainy, almost similar to what you might find on a Spino tooth; although the fossil itself isn't colored like any spino specimen I've encountered, plus its a pretty small bone. Any thoughts on what it might be? Secondly, is a vertibra, perhaps caudal (?). Very small, roughly an inch squared. My assumption is that it is mammalian in origin. It's color is reminiscent of various bear, lion & canine examples I've worked with, but I would differ to the more knowledgable minds here. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hello, My 9 year old son found this cool jaw section. It may be coincidental, but beside it was an ankylosaur tooth, partially rooted. We are unsure if it was associated. Perhaps someone will find this interesting or know more. Will post more photos if necessary.

Hi I saw this on an auction site. The website claims it is "Dromaesaurus" which does not make sense in my opinion. I was wondering what it is instead? Also, since the teeth are quite different in terms of size and shape I am wondering if it is a composite. Formation: Hell Creek Location: Montana, USA Length: 5.5 inch , 14cm

Hello all I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this tiny theropod tooth. I would already be very happy with a family level. Tooth measures 6 mm and is serrated. The very tip is missing, but otherwise pretty complete. It was found in the Upper Jurassic Lourinha formation of Portugal. This is the best quality I can take with my phone through my microscope. What do you all think? Thanks in advance.

Ok I know I promised y’all some dinosaurs from Maryland. So here I go. I’ve seen a lot of posts lately about the Arundel formation and I’m glad that people are knowledgeable about Maryland’s past. Everyone wants to talk about Calvert cliffs and the stuff coming out of there and that’s great but it’s so rare to see someone talking about the dinosaurs that roamed Maryland 110 million years ago. Anyways, the amount of fossils I’ve found here is astounding, which is why this is going to be a long post. My finds from this area include petrified wood, plant material, dinosaur footprints, and dinosaur bone chunks. A lot of people have said they’ve found bones here, but most of the time it’s really not. I however believe that based on other fossils in my collection, the bones from here look and act fairly similar. On one of these pieces, it has that ceramic ping that is a good tell tale for bone. But anyways, here’s all the stuff found over the course of 6 months hunting this place. It includes one nodrosaur footprint (from the looks of other footprints online) a lot of petrified wood, and chunks of bone, I think the bone that’s the most detailed may be a shell of a tortoise or turtle, but anyone with differing opinions can weigh in. Anyways, I’ll definitely be going back to this spot in the hopes of finding a dinosaur tooth.

This clutch is from Jiangxi of China. It looks genuine to me but I would like to have your views, and also if the shells are prone to be falling off. -
Genuine or Fake Keichousaurus Fossil Plate
alaister posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi all I’ve just started my journey into fossils and have been looking at a Keichousaurus fossil plate. I’ve read threads on this forum about it and have tried to educate myself as best as I can. I know it is widely faked so wanted to get your opinions on this one. thank you in advance- 26 replies

Good morning folks, I was sorting through a box of unknown fragments from surface collecting this summer. I inspected more closely this piece that looks like a spike. Not quite symmetrical. Looks like designed as potentially a partially lateral nodule or armor spike. I was referring to some past discussions on cerotopsian frill material and am curious if this may even be a frill spike?!? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Found this thick bone piece in a new jersey cretaceous creek and wonder if its possible to maybe id since one side has a distinct rough texture while the other is flatter and striated, I would guess either large turtle, mosasaur, or dinosaur. My friend joked its a theropod maxilary skull fragment, but we all know around here that material seems close to impossible to come across haha. Interested to hear any other thoughts.

Hi all, thank you for letting me join and post our find. My kids found this fossil(?) on Charmouth beach in the UK a few years ago. We didn't think it was anything until a family friend pointed out that it looked like a vertebrae or pelvis bone of some kind. I have no idea honestly so my apologies if that is a ridiculous thing to say. We are hoping it is a dinosaur bone, but any kind of fossil would be amazing, especially for my son who is 10 and LOVES dinosaurs and fossils. We hope you can help and I hope the pictures are okay. Please let me know if you need different photos and thank you all so much for your help and contributions to people.

End of a long bone found in the Judith river of Montana. seems a bit bigger than the normal little chicken/goat sized ornithomimid stuff we usually find - but it’s hollow (and pretty) and can anyone explain the odd markings on the articulating surface? Where tensions would run? thanks for the help (and I love this forum by the way)
