  1. Do you think this clutch of eggs from Ganzhou, China is genuine?

    Possible dinosaur egg

Good morning from La Rioja, Spain. I have been doing a lot of digging in an old house in Cornago, La Rioja and found what I believe could be a Dino egg. The area is very well known for dinosaur fossils and remains. Could someone help me to determine if it is a stone or a Dino egg, please? Gracias!!!!

Is this really a fossilized Egg?

Hello everyone, quite a few years ago, I found the following "fossil?" but can´t remember if i found it in the Alps or at the Baltic sea, but probably at the second one. For me it looked like a fossilized Egg, so I kept it. For me the egg shell is clearly visible (also on the back) and also the "egg yolk" on the top. I couldn´t find anything similar on the Internet. Each space on the Background is 0.5 * 0.5 cm and the pictures show the object from above and the back. Can anyone help me identify it, should it really be an egg, age and animal would really interest me? Is it even a fossil or just some strange formed Mineral? Thank you in advance for everyone. I´m a complete amateur and every help is appreciated.
  4. Cracked Pterodactyl Egg With Embryos Complete And Visible? At our favorite auction site, a seller is offering in several ads, these beautiful boulders that are no more than mere geological occurrences, which anyone can find on the edge of any river, as if they were genuine Pterosaur eggs ... But the Freak Circus does not end here, there's more! He announces as if these "eggs" had visible Pterosaur embryos. Can anyone see? But if you're a picky fossil collector who does not like rickety and scrawny creatures like the Pterosaurs ... His problems are over, because now he also sells boulders as if they were dinosaur eggs: How does he know what a Pterosaur egg is and what is a Dinosaur egg? Anyone have any explanation? A genuine egg of the Pterosaur is very, very rare, and is extremely different from these boulders that are widely being offered! That is, genuine Pterosaur eggs have shells, consisting essentially of an outer layer of thin and hard limestone, while under the shell was a softer membrane: And thanks to these meager but true discoveries is that we now know that pterosaur eggs were malleable, similar to the snake eggs of today: Unfortunately I can not reveal prices here, but believe me, these fake eggs do not cost anything cheap! So the high price is a great seducer, a real temptation for a novice and inexperienced collector, to think that high price means rarity, therefore, authenticity! The advice is the same as always, study on the subject so that the light of knowledge can dispel the darkness of ignorance.

    Possible egg

So this specimen I found a few months ago camping above Santa Barbara at the beach. It is 3" long x 1-7/8" wide x 1-1/2" thick. I was walking below cliffs that I could see other small shelled creature fossils. I decided to break apart some hardened sandstone. Inside I found this encapsulated in the sandstone. Any ideas? Let me preface by stating that my geological background isn't that deep. I do my own research. I have a lot of outdoor experience. I have been doing more research into gems and minerals. I spend a lot of time fishing beaches I'm No. LA county, all of Ventura county, and sometimes SB county. Thanks for any help. Tim.

    Possible Dinosaur Egg - Thoughts...

Good Day, This is my first ID post. I have had this specimen for about 30 years or so, and I have been told that it is likely a dinosaur egg. have not had any professionals look at it as of yet. I found it in the San Antonio, Texas area, near a dry riverbed. When I found it, it was whole, and we broke it open thinking it was a geode. It was not a geode, but it was very interesting so I kept it. It is about 8" across, and there are some keys in the photo for size comparison. The edge (shell) does seem to be a different makeup than the middle (egg white) section and the embryo at the center. I have seen that the shell should have micro holes so that the egg can breathe. I have several photos that I will be uploading. It may take more than one post. I have reduced the size, but I did not want to make them too small. Let me know what you all think. Looking forward to some interesting replies. Thank you, Rick Powell, San Antonio, TX
  8. I feel so silly putting in the tags, because I have no idea what scientific terms I would use... I'm sorry for my ignorance! I found this rock in a streambed in Shasta County, California, USA. I will try to attach the best pictures I can; unfortunately the only camera I have available is my phone, equipped also with a magnifying application. As you see, from comparison with my hand, it is very small. Perhaps the size of, or a bit larger than, a quail egg. Please excuse me if I've done this incorrectly, or if there is some additional information I should provide. I thank you so much for your time and any input!
  9. I have collected a number of fossils and minerals over the last 30 years and keen to make a plunge at purchasing some Fossil eggs. i have seen a pair of Hadrosaur eggs due for sale at auction but really concerned to know if they are fake. Read a few posts on this. i have posted a pic keen to get any views size is 22 cm long states evidence of “leathery surface” thanks

    Fossilized egg

Can someone please tell me if this is an actual fossilized egg / it’s hollow - and if so, where would I sell it or get it authenticated?
  13. From the album: Dinosaur Eggs

71 - 66 mya, Nanxiong Formation, Guangdong Province, China, 8.78 inches, (Note: Has composited eggshells)
  14. I posted a topic - Middle Devonian of Livingston County New York - recently and decided to include the other shelves in the display case. Also a fellow member requested to see more in the room so its their fault I had many more Oligocene fossils at one time and this is what I kept over the years (either I found it or it means something to me). Im sure there will be questions for me. Thanks, Mikeymig
  15. Is this an egg or just a round rock?
  16. Hello everyone I am Elsa from China and i live in Washington D.C. now. I bought a dinosaur eggs from one of my friend in China and it took me $1500, it's very very big and heavy, but i have never bought fossils before now. Egg shell?

I found this rock in the desert outside St. George, Utah. It looks like an eggshell to me, but I have no experience here. I'd appreciate any thoughts!

    Fossilized Egg?

I found this in central Iowa, not sure of exactly where. Kind of looked like an egg to me. It's more yellow on the inside with a kind of shell around it.

    Is this an egg?

Hello! When I was a child, living in Northern New Jersey, I found a strange rock that I picked up. I noticed it looked different, so I threw it against another rock to break it open to see what was inside. The pictures that are attached are what I found. Pictures 1 through 4 are from all sides, pretty much as it looked when I found it
  21. This is a giant egg from Xixia, Henan. It is 40cm long and 15cm wide. It is said that there is some restoration (the dark colored area). What is your view on its authenticity? Thanks!
  22. Look at these wonderful eggs. If I tell you that they are all man made, do you believe it?
  23. This is an Oviraptor egg, Eastern Asia, 60% eggshell coverage. 80 million years old. It seems authentic to me, but I’m not an expert. Do you believe that this is authentic (and definitely an Oviraptor egg)? Also is this is a quality specimen? Thanks

Is this anything other than a rock?

Gday all, was wondering if this was an egg or a rock? I found it on a beach in Australia near the border of south Australia and Victoria when I was a kid, I cut it in half and just forgot about it for around 20 years!
