Hello ! This is my first fossil, bought Sunday on an international exhibition (Ste Marie aux Mines) I have studied a lot of the old threads on the forum about Kechousaurus, I paid attention to the painting, the shape of the spine etc. The seller was very appreciated and we talked a lot, so I trust him. What do you think? Especially its preparation? He told me that he prepared the fossil with the sandblaster, no acid and no paint. Is this a nice and authentic piece?

Alrighty folks, I know the trilobite "fake versus real" is almost a cliché around here, but I thought I would ask any how. I bought this several years ago online...and it was advertised as a "phacops trilobite from Morocco". (Oh, I can hear the groans). LOL. So after the fact, I did some research: It has the detailed eyes and nose, it has the supposed common fracture through the "trilobite" and the matrix, and as far I can tell, I don't see any casting "bubbles". Sooooo, a probability of real, fake...or inconclusive? If it's real...cool, if fake...oh well I learned my lesson. Henry

Hi guys, I found this egg and it looks good in my opinion. I know there isn't a lot of eggshell but the price is reasonable. There is one mayor red flag, it is from Malaysia. Probably smuggled from China Is it real? And how do you classify it, the seller states it is Therizinosaur. But as far I know, you don't classify eggs on specie level and there isn't found allot of material of the Therizinosaur aswel. -
Hey guys, got some specimens I need some help identifying. First two photos are of a shard that the seller claims to be a trex tooth shard. Is that what it looks like? And the third photo is of a bone found in Montana that the selller believes may be a Trex bone. Please advise.

Moroccan Trilobites- Fakes and Junk - Who buys this stuff?

Hi, I found this trilobites online and decided to attach a few photos here to show examples of trilobites anyone should avoid buying - unless priced really cheap, I wouldn't pay 10$ for any of these.. This is a mix of fakes and real trilobites - very quick prepared probably 20 years ago - quality to AVOID AT ALL COSTS to avoid buying fakes! Loss of some details in the process of preparation is understandable, but when prepared too quick like this it's just a rock and not worth 500$! If only people buying moroccan trilobites did some research (all it takes is to copy paste the name of the species into google and browse through some photos to see more detailed prepared examples)... Some of you bidding on this? Someone just won this 4.7" butchered Psychopyge for 518$ from a seller in Wisconsin in USA! So much for honest USA sellers.

Hi all. I have here two keichousaurus specimens and I need some help determining which one is real, or if they're both real, or if they're all fake, etc. pics 1 & 2 are from the same specimen and pic 3 is the other one.

Our favorite auction sight has a Spinosaurus aegypticus skull listed from a seller in France. The seller lists it as being "real" and "70% complete." I was under the impression that there have been no complete spino skulls found? If you go onto the sellers regular website he also has a full spino skeleton that he says is the most complete specimen ever found.

Would like some input it looks good to me however don't feel I know enough about this type of fossil to be 100 percent confident it does have the calcium cracks, bones are not in a typical easy to fake position however there is always the chance of paint so I do appreciate the views of others that have seen with the naked eye and know what unwritten red flags to look for.

Spinosaurus Tooth Help!!

I am definitely an amateur when it comes to collecting and need some advice: I recently purchased my first 'larger' Spinosaurus tooth from a small gem/fossil shop in Seattle. The owner told me that it had no repairs or restorations, and that it of course came from Morocco. I tested the tooth under a UV flashlight and there were no anomalies, but I just wanted some more experienced opinions. The enamel looks good- no apparent cracks or suspicious color variations, root still has some of the matrix on it, but the tip seems a little suspicious to me... maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I have read so much about fake fossils and just want to be sure! Let me know what you guys think- Thanks!

I was considering getting this nice eurypterid fossil head. I know it's just the head, but the price is insanely low and I like the definition of the eyes. But for some reason the eyes feel a bit toooo perfect. The fossil is reportedly un-restored and is from Ukraine.

Red flag on Mosasaur skulls

Just a quick note to be careful when buying Mosasaur skulls. I know that this particular specimen may look incredibly convincing, but read on. This is clearly one of the most impressive skulls ever to have come onto the market. Indeed, the seller believes it to be worth $6,500 and describes it as 'museum quality'. I immediately recognised that this must be a new species. A careful, scientific examination of the photographs revealed that this animal had incredibly wide eyes, and a bone structure entirely unknown to science. Obviously this is a very rare find, and I immediately took steps to remortgage my home to secure the purchase of this remarkable animal. However, I had gotten as far as drawing a life-restoration of this creature (below) to include with my scientific paper describing this new specimen, when I began to have my doubts. Artist's reconstruction Firstly, the fact that the skull was clearly cobbled together from lumps of modern bone, sand and glue began to ring alarm bells with me. I am very astute, and my trained senses told me that an animal would be unlikely to evolve in such a way. Secondly, the fact that the surfaces were all flat and appeared to be almost two-dimensional, and that the whole thing was clearly rubbish, clued me in that all was not as it seemed. I'm thankful that my superior fossil know-how prevented me from buying a dud.
