Hi! I'm new here but not new to fossils. I have a rather large collection that I acquired over the years with my late husband. He was quite knowledgeable about the details of our collection which we shared in a mobile fossil program in the local schools and community. If y'all wouldn't mind, I could really use some expertise in identifying some of the obscure specimens in our collection. I'll start with these Vertebrae

Hello, first time poster - long time admirer. I moved to a new place and have been walking over this every day while getting exercise. What is it? KC Group, Middle Zarah Subgroup, Wyandotte Formation, Quindaro; aprox 4cm across at widest. This is in Kansas City, once the fringes of a great inland sea - so shallow marine fossils abound! It is located on the top edge of a natural bluff, enhanced by being an interstate highway cut, and is actually on the floor of an old stone quarry from the 1940’s - hence the probable erosion. At first glance I thought it the thorax of a trilobite, or an impression of one, but as it is the same color as the stone surrounding it, it just doesn’t seem to be right. I could use some knowledgable help. My guess is a ptychodus tooth - but I am way out of my depth here Thanks

I found this today at the rock quarry located in Crescent, Iowa. I was busting shale when I noticed something shiny amidst the rubble, and found this. The professor on the trip (I went with my college) said she had never seen anything like it before. The shiny part reminds me of mother of pearl. The professor guessed that it may be a wasp, but she suggests that I get it identified by someone with more knowledge/experience than her. Any ideas??
