  1. HI all, we are doing some research on gastropods in the permian, and have not had much luck finding this very important reference on line. Can any one point us in the right direction? Maybe you have a PDF? Supal Formation (Permian) of Eastern Arizona. Geological Society of America Memoir 89. Stephen S. Winters. Geological Society of America, New York, 1963. viii + 99 pp. Illus
  2. Hi! I'm looking if anybody wants to trade mosasaurus or croc, gator teeth with me! I'm offering Miocene lake shells and plant parts which i've found in Marl stone mine in Popovac, they're 14m years old.If anybody is interested let me know
  3. Hey there! I'm sorry its been so long since I've posted on here but suffice it to say I need your help. I'm planning a six to seven day fossil hunting trip in Pennsylvania (sometime in mid august) and I need your help verifying that the sites I've picked to visit from Robert Beards guide Rock Hounding Pennsylvania are still accessible to collecting as well as coverable given my time frame. The places I'm looking at hunting are sites 27. Beltzville State Park (Outcrops on shoreline), 28. Lehighton, Lehigh Canal (Former borrow pit and outcrop),30. Deer Lake (Borrow Pit), 33. Suedberg (Outcrop in former borrow pit), 35. Centralia (Former strip mine outcrop), 38. Rockville (Former quarry), 48. Walker Lake (Hillside and unpaved road), 51. PPL Montour Preserve (Hillside, Former borrow pit), 57. Uniontown (Former quarry). Any insights as to whether or not theses sites are still accessible to collecting, weather our not you believe covering all these sites within 6 to 7 days is possible, and any other tips and tidbits of information on the sites, and or planning a large trip like this etc, would be greatly appreciated! When I go I'm planning to take notes and pictures and then, when i get back, write a few essays illustrated with pics that I will post on here! Thank you in advance, Glenn aka Fossil123
  4. The girlfriend and I had a blast down in Madison and we will definitely be going back! Here's my collection that I found. The one shell has a hole in it but I'm a good way! It has little crystals on the inside!

    Trilobite Fossils Identification

Greetings. I have a few trilobite fossils that I do not know the scientific names or proper identification for. I could google image search but that might take forever :). If anyone can help with any of them, i'd appreciate it. Thanks!

    8/12/17 Matoaka Beach

Yesterday I went on a pretty great hunt. First off let's start with Matoaka Beach, which is not incredibly crowded and had pretty views. Swimming however wouldn't be great since the water was overrun by jellyfish. I hunted for two hours and filled up a cardboard box (bad idea, gets soggy) with fossils. I'm a complete noob so I don't own a sieve (I'll probably get own eventually) so the hunt for sharks teeth was quickly abandoned (except for the elusive meg, one of which was found the day before I heard, 'bout 5 inches. I found none.) this place is SO much better than Calvert cliffs because you can actually hunt in front of the cliffs rather than the fossils having to be washed south (in the process being broken) my hunt for Ecphora was fruitless, only pieces. I have so many complete chesapectans I'm gonna have to make some sort of display case for them, I might have to do a contest because they are taking up to much space! I did find one top and bottom chesapecten (nefrens btw). This is all Choptank formation, I believe once you get to the power plant, the Calvert formation has dipped under. Without further ado, here are my finds from the first half of the day (might be a while before all are uploaded): 1) Astrhelia palmata 2) Panopea (sp.?) 3) chesapecten nefrens 4) stienkern with a little shell, don't know the genus/species

    Corals?

Not sure, but I think I have seen someone else post pictures of these on the site but cant find them. Are these horn coral ends?
  18. Here is a puzzler and curiosity is getting the best of me. We are always bombarded with examples of fossils from Morocco and Madagascar, but what about the other countries of the African continent? Why do we never seem to hear about fossils from any of the other African nations? Is it mostly due to laws restrictioning fossil export or is there a lack of stuff coming out of the lands south of the Sahara?
  19. Rauisuchians are some of my favorite prehistoric beasts, rather specific but I'm wondering if anyone on here on the forum has any material to show I'd love to see. So far I've been only able to obtain postosuchus teeth and recently begrudgingly missed out on some Batrachotomus kupferzellensis.

    Gainesville fossil material

I've gone to Gainesville a few times and I haven't found many megalodon teeth, a bunch of fragments is about it. Anyways I'm going for a nice megalodon tooth. I'm not asking you guys to give up a spot but what kind of material should I look in to find a good preserved fossil? Like a good size megalodon or a horse tooth or anything of that nature. I have found that the rock rich spots have lots of smaller shark teeth but nothing big. I've seen some people look in a clay like material and find good preserved fossils but what should I look for? I need some help thanks

Fossiliferous strata near Lake Titicaca (Bolivia) 4/4

I lived several years in Bolivia, doing botany, ethnobotany, agronomy and agriculture. On december 28th, 1998, travelling in my car with my family around Lake Titicaca, I took these pictures of magnificent fossiliferous marny strata on the side of the road between the strait of Tiquina https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strait_of_Tiquina and Copacabana (Tiquina is between Huarina on the map and Copacabana), on the bolivian southern side of the lake. Geologically, this area seems to belong to Devonian. What do you think about this ? As being not paleontologist, it would interest me. Thanks in advance for your remarks. * I remember that In the 1990' and 2000', one could purchase in the streets of La Paz, as I saw it many times, fake Trilobits made of black terracota by Aymara people (traders in the soul and skilful crafts men) very, very nice and accurates and certainly made by moulding. This kind of geological site was perhaps a source o inspiration for them...
