Winter is the best time of the year for fossil hunting near the cliffs at the french coast. So like every year Natalie and I spend a few days at the "Côte d'opale" in northern France to prospect. The storms and tides cleaned up a lot of the boulders from the last cliff fals. The weather conditions were a bit harsh but we managed a few good prospections and we scored a few large ammonites.

Hello, Apparently I'm going on vacation to Canet-en-Roussillon, in southern France. Does anyone know of any fossil sites nearby? I know southern France has some great sites but I don't know if they are more in the atlantic coast. I would love to search for shark teeth in particular, in Spain vertebrate fossils (I mean all fossils, but specially vertebrate ones) can't be picked up so I'm exxcited to see if I can find any in France.

Two more mystery finds from France (Wimereux & Villers-sur-mer)

Hello everyone! I recently visited France twice to hunt for fossils. I wanted to visit Villers-sur-mer at least once before the interdiction to collect and I was rewarded with an amazing vertebra: Guess it's marine crocodile, since the shape doesn't fit with ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs or dinosaurs. Here it is cleaned up sitting in it's little box: I also found this mystery really eroded bone. It's quite big and chunky: Would anyone have an idea on what it's from/which bone it is? Then the mystery from Wimereux. At first I thought it was petrified wood, but it's dry now and it doesn't crumble. It's hard, heavy and there's some pyrite going through it: Would anyone have an idea? Thank you!

Hello, I am having a big identification problem with this cardium discovered in the zanclean in the south of France. its structure makes me think of "lyrocardium" or perhaps "discors" but, despite numerous searches, I cannot find this species. The only recent one that comes close is "lyrocardium aeolicum" from Cape Verde, but it is still different. So I appeal to your knowledge. size 45mm Thanks in advance

Hello again, Does anyone recognize this fossil? Found in late Jurassic rock of the Boulonnais, France. Partly marine and terrestrial conglomerate. Its symmetric and the underside is flat. I feel its either some sort of scute or a steinkern or imprint of something. But of what? regards, Niels

Hi, i've taken this near the Jurassic Pterosaur beach in the Department Lot, France. The item is 2 cm at the longent part. On the pièces i"ve taken there are dessication traces and calcite. On one of them i have a partial print and on another i have fossilized rain drops. I wondered if that shape could be the print of a little tridactyl animal which used its heel to walk or if it is geologic. Here it is seen in different angles and with a skirting Light.

Gastornis Eggshell

The item shown below is supposed to be a fragment of Gastornis eggshell, but the texture of the fragment does not look like that of any other fossil eggshell I have ever seen, avian or otherwise. Thanks in advance for any guidance Othniel -
Hello, I found this imprint/mold of what I think is a plant. It was found in France in a dry part of the river Gap. The rock is fragile, I can break it with my hands. Curious to find out your opinions!
