    What do I have here??

Hey everyone!! I ran across something that was given to me many years ago when I was a child, and am interested in learning more about it. It has a paper with it stating what it is supposed to be, but I'm not 100% sure it's accurate either. Thanks for any help that can be given!!

    ID HELP PLEASE!

This was found near the Farmdale Geologic Exposure, and I am having a heck of a time identifying it; I'm used to your typical bryozoa, crinoid, and brachiopod - not this! The inner, u-shaped part looks biological, and is packed with a more clay-sourced material around it, and perhaps inside? I've taken numerous pictures to try to give a full look at this weird find. The outermost rock layer can flake off of picked. I'm not even 100% convinced it's a fossil, but i'm having trouble coming up with what in the world it could be. Please help me out!

    Help identifying fossil

Hi, I’ve had this in my box of things from childhood (1970). What is this, is it a tooth? Thanks for your help.
  15. I have a Ordovician-age brachiopod that I am currently prepping. The matrix is very soft and prone to cracking and a few smaller pieces have fallen off. How do I know when to stop prepping and leave it as is? Any general tips when working with fossils in extremely soft matrix? Should I continue prepping and risk breaking it further or stop and leave it in the matrix? I can provide pictures if needed.
  16. Hi I recently purchased an air scribe, it's late, I can't remember the kind right now however it's highly recommended by you folks on this site, off brand but good. Anyways it makes a really high pitch whining sound like air escaping from a balloon and Air comes out around the rubber gasket by the tip. I don't know what it's supposed to sound like, or how it preforms to be able to troubleshoot further. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Whats a Good first air pen?

So i have always prepped with hand tools. But i really like the air scribes. But theres alot to choose from. Many of my fossils are limestone and sometimes theres a super small layer of matrix on the fossil that if i try to remove will damage the fossil. I have heard about sand blasting is that any good? I would really like one that can prep fragile fossils. I have seen many where they dont even Touch the rock when prepping. I also saw a shop called zoic palaeo tech i think its called. They were selling alot of tools but dont know what to choose anyhelp? I Also see these wooden boxes people use for prep i right now prep on my desk. Should i also get those wooden boxes? And when i prep the fossils now i spray little bit of water to see more details so its easier for me to prep. But i have heard fossils get destroyed while drying fast. I Only use a ikea desk lamp and the sun does not reach in. I know that the sun can really sunburn fossils. Sorry for the long text and questions

    Edisto Beach Tips?

I am going to be heading down to Edisto Beach in South Carolina and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for finding fossils there? I know what to look for regarding shark teeth, but this will be my first time hunting ice age fossils, so even help on just identifying ice age fossils will be great! Thanks in advance!
