Real quick, I found this Russian illaenus online, does anyone know what species it is? The seller doesn't say. Also if any of you experts think you could roughly estimate the restoration on the piece (unlikely, I know) that would be helpful too. There's a patch on the pygidium that looks restored to me but the rest looks pretty good to my eye. Thanks in advance.

My daughter and I have been hunting on our gravel path in lockdown, and have found one with almost hair like filaments running the length of it. Any chance if an ID?

Found this in a creek bed in central New York. I’m assuming it’s a geologic formation because I don’t know any fossil from the area that would look like it, but wanted to get some input. The pictures are pretty poor quality but I can take more if needed. Thanks!

I found this odd piece in a grey shale layer in a place with devonian age matrix and fossils from new york with various layers from flakier layers compact with fossils to harder layers like this gray shale layer that this one thats not as compact with fossils as the other ones. I am unaware of devonian fish remains from new york and I usually do not notice odd minerals in the grey shale layer so this this piece baffles me, these small shiny "scales" sort of reminds me of how the devonian fish fossils of the old red sandstone of the uk kinda preserve but other than that I have no idea what else to compare this to. Any thoughts on this piece will be greatly appreciated as I've never come across anything like it at the site.

I recently took a trip to Monmouth County and found these two fragments. My guess is that they are ratfish, but I was not quite sure. The second piece threw me for a loop based on the little holes on the flat surface, as seen in the last photo. Any help is greatly appreciated. #1 #2

Hello everyone, found this hallowed out bone in Big Brook nj. It is rock solid and when I did the burn test on it, it remain unscathed with no smell so I definitely think its fossilized bone. I'm not to sure if it's identifiable as is, any thoughts on this one will be appreciated.

Hello Everyone- Any help is greatly appreciated. I have had this (what I believe to be a fossil) for about 25 years. My grandmother found this when I was very young and I have held onto it ever since but have never taken the time to learn what it is. It was found near a creek bed in Southwestern VA. There is also a rock quarry nearby the location. Took the best images I could with the only metric measuring tool (measurements are in cm) I had on hand. If more details are needed, ple ase let me know. Thanks!

I believe this is some sort of wood fossil because of the characteristic holes and shape of the wood. Sorry for the bad photo, please tell me if a better one is needed for ID. Found it in a pile of rocks dug up during construction of a school.

Hi All! Could you please help me to ID this specimen that was found 2019, Miami Beach, Gold Coast, QLD, Australia. I'm hoping it is turtle coprolite from the pliocene. I have other pieces if that would help. Thank in advance!

Hello everybody, could you help me identify this fossil? was found in a quarry in Holderbank, Switzerland. From the information I found it should be sediments from the upper Jurassic. Looking at other photos, it looks like shark's tooth to me, but I'm no expert. If it is shark's tooth, is it possible to trace it back to the species?

Can anyone help me ID this shark jaw? Purchased on Craigslist, it was found at an estate sale in upstate NY. Early research has me suspicious it's from the Carcharhinidae family, but I would love an expert's guidance and a specific species name if possible. Thanks in advance, B

I went out on a excursion a few months ago and I dug up this fossil. It looks like maybe it has two shark teeth within it, but it could also be a mammal tooth. I found this in the Low Country of South Carolina. Any help would be appreciated! Pictures below!

Hi, I would really appreciate an ID on these crustaceans found 2019 at Miami, Mermaid And Nobby beaches on the Gold Coast, Australia. I've done some basic research and came up with Pliocene era. Thankyou so much!

Hi everyone, I was hoping someone could identify this or tell me if its something interesting. I was digging a bush out of my yard and hit it with a shovel, sounded much different than a rock so I washed it off. It was found in clay but this soil/ clay mix was brought in by a truck from somewhere after the house was built to level the backyard. I thought it was a very unusual piece to be found in the yard. Any ideas? Let me know if any other pictures would help. Thanks Chuck

I'm sure I've seen something like this before, but there's a fossil-looking thing on the back.

Hello, I found this rock, and it has this dipped area with a kind of pattern (I think it could be a concretion), and there's this fossil-looking thing on the back. Is anybody able to ID this? Thanks.- 1 reply
