    Dear all, Recently I purchased a "Nostoceras Malagasyense" Heteromorphic Ammonite from an online platform. Initially, I didn't question the authenticity of the specimen, as the seller seems to have quite a few Cleoniceras ammonites for sale (which are clearly genuine). However for this piece I'm quite unsure if it is truly authentic, and would like a second opinion. I understand that there is an Export Ban for fossils from China, but to my understanding that's for Vertebrate fossils (ammonites are invertebrates). My main concerns are: Is it a legitimate fossil? Some parts look carved, but at the same time some of the striations look too difficult/ not worth the effort to forge for the price paid. Thank you!

    Cretaceous Crab/Lobster?

    I found these fragments of something crabby on my last trip to the North Sulphur River in Texas. They were partially exposed in one of the red bed layers of the Ozan Formation, and were so delicate that they started to crumble when I extracted them. I saved the more whole and identifiable pieces. They're a kind of muddy yellow color, with maybe some hints of the original pigmentation in the blue areas. The red beds tend to either turn fossils black (when they're phosphatized) or a dusty red, so this was quite an unusual find for me. The closest to an ID I've been able to get so far is some sort of lobster like an Enoploclytia, but other than that I'm unsure. Any help with an ID would be appreciated, as would any advice as to how I should go about preserving the fossils to make them more durable, as they are still extremely fragile.

    Hey again, this is a very tiny ~.5cm shell that I found some time ago at the regular road cut at the Lost River exposure of the Mahantango Formation. I would guess it’s a Gastropod or something similar but if it could be narrowed down any further I would be elated. Thanks guys!

    All, This is my first post, although I have been reading with interest for some time. As I approach retirement, I find myself returning to the hobbies of my youth, including fossil hunting. I found these fossils in a single rock in Northeastern Oklahoma (a few miles South of Tulsa). It came from demolished concrete structure, so I do not know where the rock originated. The rock is very hard and very fine grained. It reminds me of chert or a very hard limestone. The first photo shows one end of the rock, where the closeup photos were taken. The fossil in the upper left is about one inch (2.5 cm) in length and about one-half inch (1.3 cm) in height. The second photo shows a close-up of this fossil. I am nearing the file size limit, so I will attempt to reply to this topic with additional photos. I would be grateful if forum members can help me with identification. Best wishes.
