Hi Fellow Fossil Hunters! I moved to Charleston SC Nov 2013 and love it here! Had been coming here on vaca for years. Couple years back I took a trip to Morris Island via Adventure Harbor Tours, Howie Weil, and introduces to fossil hunting. Simply AWESOME! During one vaca trip to the Holy City I made a sifter using common items from Ace Hardware - pvc pipe/elbows/tees, wire mesh, zip ties, pipe insulation - and it changed my hobby life permanently! I have found hundreds of nice fossil teeth, clams, bones, vertebrae, cuprolite, turtle shell, mammal teeth using it all over the region from creeks to rivers to dredge spoil islands to gravel along the beach shore. My friend Howie and I are looking for fossil and old treasure adventures. Here are a few places that I would like to go: - phosphate mining spoils in the north charleston area - quarries from Charleston to Orangeburg - Edisto River - Cooper River - Ashley River - Wando River - Summerville area ditch hunts I am interested in the hunt for marine fossils and land animal fossils incl mammoth, sloth, and post ice age animals and early man hunting artifacts all the way to recent history including Indian, Spanish, Colonial artifacts. Also, I would like to put my Hero 3 camera rig to work exploring some underwater gravel beds in the nearby rivers. There is an underwater housing available from an outfit in CA that provides a HDMI and USB cable output. I would like to fabricate a rig with some high output lights that would allow us to survey the river beds prior to a dive. I am not a diver. I do have welding, metal fab and machining equipment plus a couple of sit on top Ocean Kayaks perfect for small river jaunts. Also just built a nice trailer for the kayaks. Hit me up if you are looking to make a trip, want a motivated treasure hunter to kick around! Shafi
