I'm fairly certain that it's a fish, but does anyone know what kind? It was found in Johnson County KY near some railroad tracks. The rock measures about 2.4 inches long. Also, what kind of leaves are these? They were found in a ditch by a road and there were calamite fossils nearby. Each rock measures about 2 inches long (they were bigger, but I sanded off most of the excess rock because they were clunky and just had these little fossils on the edge).

I'm thinking about taking a break from fossil-hunting for a while (probably the rest of the year) so I can focus more on my art. Before that, however, I'd like to ask for a couple more IDs. First are some things that my mom found and are curious about. This first one has a thin ridge running down the middle seems kind of sharp, leading me to believe it may be bone. Could just be a broken nodule/concretion, though. The second one she found resembles a shell, though I'm leaning more toward Calamite since that seems so common around here. It was found in the creek. Here's one that I found yesterday around the same spot I found what some of you identified as a possible Lepidodendron root. It's not as detailed as my previous one, but I think it might be part of one as well. The stone is about 4.5cm wide. And here are a couple more that I'm fairly confident are Calamites, but let me know if I'm wrong. Also, if they are, how rare is Calamite foliage compared to the "woody" parts? My mom and I have found over 10 possible Calamite specimens, but no foliage so far. I'm guessing that the leaves don't preserve as well, thus being more rare.

I found this on my usual walks yesterday. What caught my eye was the finger-like shape with what almost looks like pencil-drawn lines inside. Any ideas what it is? I couldn't get any good close-up pictures, but if you look closely, you can see what appear to me as thin calamite impressions, leading me to believe that these "drawn" lines might actually be the calamite's needle-like foliage (though I could be horribly wrong). Lines can be faintly be seen to the left of the finger-like shape, but I've circled the most-noticeable (to me, anyway) impression to the right here:

Coral or...? -- Oct. 18 Update: More (unrelated) specimens added!
icycatelf posted a topic in Fossil ID
Me again. I found another specimen on one of my usual walks. This distinct pattern has to be a fossil... right? It measures 5.5cm wide. Side 1 Side 2 Close-up of texture (ignore the random cat hair ^^') UPDATE: Found some more stuff today while down by the creek. I'm thinking the first (which measures 3.25cm wide) may be some type of coral. The second (about 3.15cm wide) might be an Artisia fossil, but I'm not sure. Any help? -
Couple new finds. Again, I'm not sure if they're fossils or just rocks. First is this one that I thought might've been a boot-print until realizing that it was in stone: And next is one that I'm thinking might be a tooth. It's thin and looks like it could easily break, but I couldn't barehandedly snap it. It measures roughly 3cm long and 1cm wide. Feel free to visit my first thread and see if you can help identify my previous finds: [x]
