  1. I am tempted to bid on one of these, I haven't got a a portuguese tooth yet. I was wondering if anyone is able to narrow down the species. Tooth 1 14.5mm x 6.8 x 3.7 Tooth 2 - 6.5mm x 3.3 mm, x 1.9 mm thanks for the help
  2. I recently purchased a Theropoda indet. tooth from the Lourinhã Formation of Lourinhã, Portugal. I wasn't expecting much initially since it looked like an incomplete tooth and the seller tends to go the safe route with their IDs if it's too vague. But, the serration count was similar to that of the Marshosaurus-like megalosaurid teeth based on @Troodon's guide on the dinosaurs of Portugal. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I wanted to see if anyone else had some input before I slap that good old theropoda indet. label on the display. The distal serrations is split down the middle. Mesial serrations were kind of hard to count, but they are at least 20/5mm, the distal serrations are 16/5mm. Not sure if the split serrations are messing with the count, but it should be around that 16/5mm after counting it multiple times with various pictures. I don't know how much further the tooth would have gone had it been complete, but I think the mesial serrations do appear to end before reaching the base. Although I don't know if those serration densities still overlap with other theropods like Allosaurus. Split distal serrations and shape of the base which could be slightly off due to the split serration. Distal serrations. Mesial serrations. Mesial serrations ending? Close up on denticle shape on distal side.

    Proceratosaurus from Portugal?

Hello! I have seen this tooth identified as Proceratosaurus from Lourinha (Portugal) The size is 13mm. What do you think? I thought that the proceratosaurus only lived in the UK ... I can not find any publication about this... Thank you so much.

    Lourinha theropod tooth

Hello all I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this tiny theropod tooth. I would already be very happy with a family level. Tooth measures 6 mm and is serrated. The very tip is missing, but otherwise pretty complete. It was found in the Upper Jurassic Lourinha formation of Portugal. This is the best quality I can take with my phone through my microscope. What do you all think? Thanks in advance.
  5. I will be going to Lourinha in Portugal this summer, which is an excellent opportunity for fossil collecting! However, I can´t find anything about taking fossils with you back on the plane... does anyone know if this is allowed? Thanks in advance!
  6. Hey everyone! Im currently in Peniche, Portugal and I’ve been doing a little research and found that the Lourinhã formation is nearby. I went to the museum today in Lourinha town and saw some of the amazing finds that’s have come out of this formation! Can anyone recommend the best beaches to go to to fossil hunt? Anything specific I should be looking out for? Basically any advice would be amazing! Thanks
