I went to Penndixie to kill a couple hours and to my surprise laying on the ground was what is been confirmed by a few people as the left inferognathal of a placoderm. Most likely some sort of dunkleostus spc. Honestly my best find to date from that site as well as my first piece of fish from Penndixie.

Asteropygine sp. Middle Devonian Hamilton Group Upper Ludlowville Formation? Madison County, NY I am unsure about what to classify this specimen as. It has eyes more similar to a Bellacartwrightia (7 lenses in some of the columns), yet its body is more like that of a Greenops (no axial nodes and shorter, more rounded pygidial lappets).© Owen Yonkin 2021

Today I was rearranging fossils in my basement and I came across some fossils that I had purchased in 2019 at a garage sale for $2.00. The pieces are from 18 Mile Creek in Western New York. These fossils are Middle Devonian in age and the person that they belonged to collected them I believe in the 80’s or early 90’s. Here are a few of the pieces. It is nice to have a representative group of some of the fossils from this location. Hopefully I have the ID’s correct on these. Stereolasma rectum- Mucrospirifer mucronatus (?) (L) Stropheodonta demissa (R) Rhipidomella penelope Athyris spiriferoides Longispina mucronatus Gastropod Naticonema lineata Bryozoan Straight-Shelled Nautiloid - Spyroceras sp. I found this in a creek...near Cayuga Lake, Middle Devonian, Hamilton Group, Limestone. It really doesn't look like a Coral...so, am not sure. It seems like I've seen this on one of the other forums. Each are "ringed" and those rings follow down through the rock...you can see this in the large one. Any help as always is greatly appreciated. Thanks Greg

I've been working in rocks from the Middle Devonian Windom Shale of Central NY. Although I've found some different "fossils/marine invertrabrates". They are all "mud casts". These two are unknown to me. I posted some photos of my finds on another forum and someone came forward with a comment about the first of the two. It was "Guilielmites umbonatus Geinitz??" I tried looking on the internet and came up the the second photo, which looks similar to me...at the following link: Do you know similar case about pseudo fossil Guilielmites Geinitz ? (researchgate.net) But this article is from France...I can't seem to find an article from North America. Does anyone here happen to recognize them? Thanks Greg

I've found this...I've looked through my middle devonian books under Gastropod, Ammonite, Bivalve, Brachiopod...can't find it under any of them. Pretty sure it's a mud mold...but, not 100%. Comes from the Kashong Member, Hamilton Group, Middle Devonian, Seneca Cnty, NYS. Thanks Greg

Hello everyone. I purchased this as a group of rocks...gathered from the Middle Devonian, Hamilton Group, Kashong Memeber in Seneca Cnty., NYS. I can see that it is an Orthocone Nautiloid,. ID would be appreciated. But the most interesting part...is the dark "object" at the end. This area is not considered to be friendly to soft tissue. However the nautiloid and this dark object seem to be seamless. Explanations of this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Greg
