The tooth shown below is labelled as coming from Sarcosuchus imperator, but I am a little dubious as to if this identification is correct. Unfortunately this is the only image of the specimen the seller has provided. Thanks in advance for any guidance Othniel

I recently saw this tooth for sale identified as a Deltadromeus, but it looks suspiciously similar to teeth sold as "indeterminate Abelisaurid", mine included, so I thought it would be worth checking. The seller has stated the tooth is "17mm x 10mm at the widest points". No other measurements were given. Thanks in advance for any guidance Othniel

Does Anyone Know What This Trilobite Is?
Lucid_Bot posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, I found this beauty on a popular auction site and the seller seems to think it's a horseshoe crab. There is no geological information with it and the seller isn't even sure if it's real. I was hoping that someone might be able to identify it. Thanks. -
Hi, I have this trilobite labelled as a Proetida. Also I was told it is 485-251 myo is this also right? Finally is it Moroccan if so I assume Atlas mountains? Thank you for your time!

A rangeomorph holdfast trace fossil from the Ediacara formation, Rawnsley quartzite of the Flinders Range, South Australia. This specimen is Medusina mawsoni, so called because it was until recently thought to be a jellyfish, but is now believed to be the attachment point of a fractal rangeomorph as Charniodiscus is the point of anchorage for Charnia sp. This one may have been the holdfast point for some species of Rangea. The diameter of the outer circle is 1.5 cm and the fossil is estimated to be 555 million years old.

Fellow members, I have been offered this Dicranurus. At first glance it appears to be well prepped etc. with no signs of obvious fractures etc. As one should be on guard when purchasing Moroccan material, I would like to seek counsel / opinions / another pair of eyes regarding this specimen which I have been offered. Can anyone see any signs of repair and / or restoration? Thankyou in advance, much appreciated. 7382B30E-FC78-42BF-AD84-380811D50D9E.mov

Hi Everyone! I acquired this Kem Kem gem a few months ago. I'm pretty certain that it's a Spinosaurid Caudal, which would have been really cool by itself since it's one of the better ones I've seen, but what really sticks out (or in) is a very large unique looking hole on one side. The bone is about 9.6 cm long and hole by itself is roughly 3.5 x 2.7 cm wide and 1.3 cm deep. Damage on Kem Kem material isn't uncommon, but the bone surface flows into the hole as if it was made before fossilization. The big question I have (aside from a second opinion that I'm not just seeing something much cooler than what is there), is pre or post mortem and potential causes. I don't think it's a bite mark. While I have seen really big Spino teeth with that cross section there isn't any damage to the other side and I feel like a tooth that size would punch a hole straight through the bone rather than just leave a 1.3 cm deep hole. Same with potential injury from a large spike of some sort. I don't think it's cancer since there's no excess growth. The main thing that comes to my mind is a really nasty infection with a large abscess, potentially caused by a minor injury that got infected (Spinos loved swimming in some nasty swamps after all). But as with any claim like that it's pretty important to seek out a second opinion. So what do you all think? Any insight is appreciated as always!

Hey there, It‘s my first post in this Forum, so it‘s time to say hello. My name is Philipp, born in Germany/Saxony. I grew up in the Erzgebirge and was surrounded and fascinated by mines and minerals when i grew up. On my current travel through Europe and Morocco the passion for Minerals and Fossils flamed up again. It’s hard for me not to think every moment about where I‘m going fossil/mineral hunting again so i don‘t annoy my girlfriend tooooo much ;) I’m currently in Morocco for a 3 Month trip to search for fossils and minerals. I was reading about the Mosasaur teeth in the Oil Shale Deposits near Bakrit/Timahdite and about some members visiting this area. I was wondering if someone can give me some locations where these teeth can be found. Looking forward to your answers Philipp

Is This "Scabriscutellum Furciferum" Trilobite Legitimate?
MrBones posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, I saw this while looking for affordable trilobites. The seller said that the trilobite is around 1.5 inches long. To me it looks like the real deal, however, I am no expert, and would like some confirmation. -
Hello, I have this mortality plate from Tafraoute, Morocco and it's from the ordovician. And I have seen similar online, but nobody seems to know the species of the trilobites. Is it possible to have some more info than unidentified trilobite? I tried to take some photos where the cephalon, thorax and pygidium can be seen. Thanks!!!

I've had a few e-mails and PMs, so thanks for those everybody, but just a message here to let you all know the latest. Last night, a little after 11 pm, the sofa started jiggling about, so I asked wifey if she was bouncing around and she asked me the same thing. Then we noticed that the pictures on the walls were flapping about and there were ripples in the coffee. We knew what was happening and after a couple of minutes, it stopped. Fes has been spared as we are a considerable distance from the epicentre, though places further south and west have been badly hit. I've spent today confirming that the people I know down there are okay and, thankfully, they are. wifey and I went and gave blood, there's not much else we can do. Thousands are dead, injured and missing down there. It was completely unexpected and terribly sad.

New Trilobite Acquisition - Real?
RodX posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello all, I've just got a Coltraneia effelesa from Ma'der, Taharajat, Outfaten, Morooco, app. 410-390 mio. years. Is this ok? It's glued (you see with UV), a hot needle cold not penetrate it and acetone did nothing to the little bugger. Rod @rew @piranha @Kane- 5 replies

A shark tooth from my collection: a Cretalamna maroccana specimen
gond posted a topic in Member Collections
Hello everyone, it's been a while since I last posted on the forum In the last year my collection has reached 33 specimens, so I guess that "road to 35" is extremely close! Today I wanted to show you a specimen I acquired very recently, specifically last March! Species: Cretalamna maroccana (Arambourg, 1935) Size: 2.5 tall, ~3.0 cm long Age: 72-66 mya (Late Cretaceous, Maastrichtian) Origin: Ouled Abdoun basin (Morocco) About this fossil: a nicely preserverd shark tooth, with only a small hole on the front part of the tooth's root; I especially appreciate the two lateral cusplets, which are extremely nice to admire. Definitely one of my favorites!- 8 replies

Hi, This is only photo until the tooth I arrived--I bought it when I saw it because of the low price and the fact it is quite unusual. And this was the only pic on the site. A tooth, sold as crocodile from Kem Kem. 9mm in height. It looks a bit like Hamadasuchus, but with that ridge down the center. A different positional Hamadasuchus tooth? Or a juvenile? cheers I will post more pics when I can.
