So I have been going to my usual spot in the Peace River for the past 5 years, always finding something larger or new! This time it looks to be a tusk? This was actually nearby where I found the mastodon/gompothere molar 2 years ago. It was in bedded in the river bed and when it was removed, some piece broke off. It's also fairly heavy for it size. Also, I do have a fossil permit. Can some link me or provide me info about legal concerns of owning this?

Since I'm done with the Peace River this year, I thought I would start sorting this season's finds in preparation for my report to the Univ. of Florida. I usually throw all the small teeth I find into a jug for give aways, but I had set these 3 teeth aside because they looked a little different. Just wondered if they were anything special. They all are serrated on both edges.

I have been working with Shellseeker in PM's on identifying several horse teeth found in the Peace River this spring. His input has been extremely helpful and we have narrowed down almost all. The two shown here raised the question as to whether they are Equus or Nannippus based on size (length/crown). I am posting them here hoping for additional input on classification. They are numbered 3 & 4 as they are part of a series we were evaluating. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The red/pink ruler is inches. The blue is metric and provided to give a close up of the crown of each.

Hi I'm going to be making the 2 hour drive out to the Paynes creek area of the peace river to look for sharks teeth. It's a long drive and I am dieing to find my first big Meg. I could really use some advice on where to look. I'm not asking for exact spots but. If i'm going to spend the whole day out there on one of my very few free days then I really don't want to come home empty handed. Please any help will be amazing.

Hello! This is my first time posting,I’m sorry if any of the format is incorrect. I read through the rules first. I know some of these might just be rocks that look like something cool, or modern bones/teeth. Any identification ideas are welcome, I’m still learning what is what and I’m really interested in all of these things that I’ve set aside. Most were found in Peace River and Caspersen Beach.

So I found this tooth sifting through all the little extras from my fossil trip to Florida, it doesn’t look like any of the other common bull sharks, lemons etc. I think it is a baby megalodon but I’m not sure, it is serrated but a little worn, it’s much wider and not as narrow/pointy as a typical bull. Thoughts?

This specimen was found in an area with a lot of Dugong rib bone and other fragments. Initially I tossed on the river bank with the pieces I didn't intend to keep. Taking a second look I thought it could be an ear bone of some type. After a lot of searching on this site I think it most resembles Sirenian ear bone and I am hoping for confirmation or redirection on what it is. Thanks for any help you all can provide.

So yesterday was a great day on the Peace River. I found what I believe (hope) is a Mammoth spit tooth. If not it's a nice chunk of tooth plates. I posted a quick shot that was somewhat blurry in the discussion section last night promising better pictures today. So, first an overall from yesterday's best finds then to four shots of what I hope will be confirmed as the spit tooth. Input is much appreciated!

Found this yesterday in the peace river in Florida. Now, I think I know what this is, but I would like some positive ids from you guys. I hope this is one I can check off the bucket list before I leave Florida. Also, if anyone can ID this turtle, please let me know. I found the whole thing embedded in clay, and now I have a bit of a puzzle on my hands. Would be nice to see some pics for reference. -J

Two more finds from last week I would appreciate some help on. First #3 is what appears to be bone of some type. It is heavier than it looks and feels solid. #4 I believe to be a mammoth tooth fragment and am seeking confirmation. Thanks for any input!

Did a lot of online searching trying to id this little specimen. What it seems to most resemble is the top if an Equus incisor. Could that in fact be what it is?

Looking for help with ID on these two finds from the Peace River, FL. Closest I could come to an ID on #1 is an Echinoid. On #2 I am thinking it could be a giant tortoise leg spur? Any input would be appreciated.

Found the pictured item in the Peace River. While looking through ID literature I came across a Gomphothrerium tusk picture that highlighted the black spiraling band in the tusk. Could this be a tusk fragment? Sorry for the lack of measurements. The piece is small, only 1" x 1.75".

Good day on the Peace River yesterday. Found horse, mammoth, mastodon teeth along with several varieties of shark teeth. Also pulled up the below specimen. It came up in one piece and I placed it in the shade on the bank. After about 30 minutes I picked it up to move it to my kayak. That is when the piece in my hand broke off. Retrieved as much of it as possible. Got it home in a plastic bag and submerged it in fresh water as soon as I could. Only took it out to take the photos. Small pieces continued to flake off the underside whenever it was touched. I tried to position it as it was found before the break when taking the photos. Any help in identifying what it is would be greatly appreciated.

Found this in the Peace River. In the pictures it looks like a wet piece of wood. It’s definitely fossilized. I’m thinking petrified wood but the color doesn’t look like any prices I’ve seen before? Also, what type of sharks are the last two teeth. I think one of them might be a small meg. If it is, it’s my first meg!!!!

Recently found, very small, roughly 1.5 inches. Any ideas? Doesn't look like feline or canine. Thanks

Going to post this multiple times due to multiple images. There are just a couple here that I am most curious about but would love any and all feedback. I will post in the order of priority for lack of better words. For some context, took the family to the peace river up in Zolfo Springs, near Arcadia. We found approx 50 teeth, mostly small but some cool ones. Lots of Ray plates and some bones. Most of these are placed up against a US penny simply for a size reference. Any help in identifying would be much appreciated. Thanks all!!!

I found this yesterday in the Peace River and only really looked at it now, I think it’s an armadillo scute but I’m not %100 sure. Help is appreciated!

The peace river was still low so I decided to try my luck, ended up finding some decent stuff and two mystery items. I think the first is a pathological mako tooth but I’m not 100% and I don’t know anything about the bone so help is appreciated!
