Howdy! Found a bone and tooth the other day in a stream in Allegheny County. I tried burning the bone, but couldn't smell anything.

After work had the chance to try out a new (to me) outcropping of the Mahantango. While the rock I split was mostly out of situ there was exposure along a cliff that I avoided just to be safe. This area seemed to be a different environment than Mahantango spots I have hunted in the past. There was more crinoids and even some horn corals. I managed to find a few trilobites, mostly Eldredgeops though I did find a partial Greenops. My highlights were the largest Mahantango Eldredgeops I have personally seen (though I am sure someone on here has a larger one!) as well as a completely free from matrix roller (I split him out of the rock and he just happened to pop out nicely) 6cm = 2.36in Perfectly enrolled and free from matrix Bummer this Greenops is missing its cephalon

Not sure how to ask but is dinosaur bone mostly heavy or light? I do have some and oddly they are extremely heavy. The shapes matched a certain anatomy area of a dinosaur. The material I find is premian-triassic to triassic along with material from devonian- Carboniferous. Nothing from Jurassic yet but a possibility when I do more homework. Area found will be discussed later but trying to figure out why so much material is petrified. Yes silica content is very high in area but bones almost look like iron shapes. I tested the shapes despite the color of black, brown, and smooth. And yes I was able to prove it's bone but not in a way one would think bone is preserved. No pictures for this discussion just trying to wrap head around why so heavy. Discuss this to get a better idea of preservance in an iron like way? The reason no pictures because not in a debate whether rock or bone but why heavy, ironish, brown and black.

This caught me off guard today. I've been so busy trying to figure out my theory on triassic material that I overlooked other stuff. I think I need it prepped a little because sandstone is covering details. I took a close up of side of shell to see the odd circle patterns. I need to work on this one a little to bring everything out. But in meantime it's a find I cross off my book. I found this in elk county, Pa. Thanks.

Hi. I'm very much an amateur, but I found this in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and thought it looked a little...toothy, but it could just be a rock. Any help would be much appreciated!

Howdy! Chiseled this out of a rock today. I thought it was a coral at first, but not quite sure now. The final picture is a cross section of the inside. Thanks in advance.

I found this a few yrs ago and still can't figure out what kind of fossil this is. I'm trying to figure out if this is plant or a different type. It's 2inches wide. Any ideas? Thanks.
