Most everything you see sold on the commercial market as far as Sauropod teeth, from the Kem Kem of Morocco, is label Rebbachisaurus garasbae or Rebbachisaurus. They appear to be incorrectly identified based on the latest research. Feel free to add your teeth to show variations. What do we know of Sauropod teeth from this fauna? - very simple answer, very very little in fact less than we know of Theropod material which is very little to begin with. In the Kem Kem there is one described species a Diplodocoid, Rebbachisaurus garasbae and evidence of a large Titanosaurid. That evidence on the Titanosaurid is based only on a single caudal vertebra. The holotype that described Rebbachisaurus contained only one complete dorsal vertebra, parts of another vertebra, some neural spines, rib fragments, ischium, humerus and a few more fragmentary material but NO skull, NO teeth. Like many Theropod dinosaurs we have teeth but no skull to identify them against and label them to a family level. Why should we not do the same with sauropod teeth there is no difference. The other fact that I find interesting is Rebbachisaurus once thought to be a large bodied Sauropod has been redescribed to a smaller animal and the Titanoaurid from this fauna is a very large one. EDIT: The publication issued in 2018 sheds a new light on this topic. The information here is based on that publication https://peerj.com/articles/5925/ Rebbachisaurid indet Faceted small diameter, smooth surface This tooth is faceted all around the crown. Very round, small diameter This tooth includes a base with enamel on it - uncertain of placement Titanosaurid indet Large Teeth Two very crisp cutting edges and very rough texture in the enamel, no wear facet maybe sign its an unerupted tooth. Have not see the texture on any other tooth. Very pointed Crown - positional? No cutting edges This tooth shows wrinkles around the shaft. No its not a Spino no cutting edges Felt sorry or these two orphans just added them to the mix. Positional, no cutting edges More peg like, no cutting edges, not sure about this tooth - My guess its Rebbachisaurid

Is this a Rebbachisaurus tooth?
Othniel C. Marsh posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
The tooth shown below is supposed to be that of a Rebbachisaurus garasbae. However, insofar as my understanding goes, most sauropods of the superfamily Diplodocoidea have rather peg like teeth. Based on my limited knowledge of sauropod teeth I'd be inclined to place this as a titanosaur. Am I right in my assumption? Thanks in advance for any guidance Othniel- 5 replies

Ask for advice of Rebbachisaurus teeth
Cris Tang posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
A seller sent me a video and picture of Rebbachisaurus teeth. But I’m not sure that is real or fake. May I get advice from you, please? Thank you 457fc075-f5d0-4428-86f1-00fee0f8d7dc.mp4- 4 replies

Hi all. This tooth is advertised as an Rebbachisaurus tooth from Kem Kem (these are the only pictures provided). I have tried to find comparable teeth in earlier topics on this forum, but I was not really able to find a good match. What do you think? Is it a Sauropod tooth? Could it be Rebbachisaurus or probably something else? Or are more pictures or details needed? Thanks!

Hello everyone, i have a question concerning Rebbachisaurus vert. I saw a huge Kem Kem vert in the Troodon’s collection that he refered to a dorsal Rebbachisaurus vert, the problem is about this identification. I can’t find any other vert like this in rebbachisaurid papers, particularly about Rebbachisaurus who show great difference about the morphology of the neural process and the centrum. I don’t see any pleurocoel on the centrum of the troodon’s vert and the neural spine is laterally flat with a strange « granular plate » on the anterior surface. I think about two possibilities : maybe this vert is on another position, or pertain to an another specie. I need help from persons who better know sauropods than me, It’s possible that i miss informations or a paper.

Hello! From these photos (of two different teeth) could anyone tell me if they are from Rebbachisaurus? I have my doubts because the tip is sharper than the ones I usually see on this kind of sauropod. Thanks!!

Hi all, I was wondering if I could get an ID for this tooth. It is 2.3 cm long and from the Kem Kem beds of Morocco. I understand that Kem Kem theropod teeth are difficult to identify, but I was curious if it could be narrowed down to the family level. Does this tooth resemble what Deltadromeus teeth are speculated to look like? Or is it something else (Carcharodontosaurid?). Thanks for any help.

I also found these two teeth at our local fair. I bought them despite of the lack of information privided because the spinosaurid tooth (if it is spinosaurid and not mosasaur) was pretty cheap for its size and the other tooth which was labeled "Rebbachisaurus garasbae" had an unusal shape in contrast to all the other material from Kem Kem that is available here. The seller only provided the information that both teeth are from the Kem Kem Beds of Morocco. This is the tooth that was labeled as Spinosaurus aegyptiacus. But from my previous tooth I know that one cannot differentiate between S. aegyptiacus and Sigilmassasaurus so that it should be labeled as "Spinosaurus indet.". Is this correct?

Hi All, I am looking for sauropod teeth. Madagascan teeth at the top of my list but am interested in all sauropods. I would be interested in Rabbachisaurus teeth but they would need to be in exceptional condition. I have a lot of teeth I would be willing to trade, too many to list. If you have something you would like to trade please let me know and what type of tooth you would be looking for in return. Thank you, Randy

I had posted these on my collection gallery - and one or 2 people thought perhaps these were NOT rebbachisaurus teeth; rather Spinosaurus. I would like to classify them properly - SO.... looking for opinions! I want to know if corrections are needed. (And I am NOW looking for a GOOD rebbachisaurus tooth online). The dealer I got this from is not a "dealer" in fossils as far as I can tell.... but I will avoid him in the future, I think!

I've been reading a few papers on Sauropods and the topic of wear facets got me thinking. I own 30 plus Rebbachisaurus teeth and only two of them have labial wear facets. Every other tooth with a wear facet has a lingual wear facet. That doesn't really make any sense to me. For most sauropods with tooth to tooth contact, the upper teeth will have a lingual wear facet and the lower teeth will have labial. It could be that I just happen to own mostly upper teeth but I don't think so. Most every Rebbachisaurus tooth you see has a lingual wear facet. Any thoughts on that.

Rebbachisaurus tooth?
Seguidora-de-Isis posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello! Good Night to everyone who participates in my favorite Forum! I present to you the newest member of my collection... It was discovered in Kem Kem, Morocco. Very good condition, although there are natural cracks in the enamel these do not appear to have been glued or restored. But I do not think it's a Rebbachisaurus tooth... What do you think? Thank you all! -
I recently purchased this baby Rebbachisaurus tooth. It's the smallest one I own at 14 mm. I thought I would contrast it next to the two largest teeth I have at 3 inches.

Are Fossils A Much Bigger Demand In America Than In England?
FF7_Yuffie posted a topic in Questions & Answers
Just curious since I've been browsing a few sites, looking for some new Dino teeth to buy for my collection. I've noticed though that America sites all seem to be a heck of a lot more expensive than the English ones. Like Rebbachisaurus teeth for example, they all seem to be $100 dollars plus on America sites but an English ebay seller regularly sells them for under £10 and one English fossil site I found has quite a few for sale for around £15. Just wondering if fossil collecting is much more popular over in the States or if there's another reason for the huge difference in prices- 22 replies
