Do you guys think this is real or fake. I'm assuming fake, but thought I would post to see if you would be willing to give any insight. Apparently it was found in the Kem Kem Basin, Morocco, Africa.

I have recently found this forum and have been going through various posts. All very interesting but now has me questioning everything I own. I have been able to identify everything as real or fake except the dreaded Spinosaurus claw. It is something I have gotten years ago and I keep going back and forth on it so I need you expert opinions on it. It weights about 77 grams if that helps.

Interesting paper. Paul Sereno et al. challenge the hypothesis that Spinosaurus was fully aquatic presented in Ibrahim et al. 2020b paper. Hello people, This is my very first post. I recently bought this tooth since the fatty chunkyness (is this a real word?) appealed to me.it is on its way now Seller says it is spinosaurid. If so were in the jaws can this tooth be placed since it is very fat and large as opposed to the many slender teeth that are usually found on the net. My first tought is that it is maybe from the lower jaw (dentary ) and from the front of the jaw. The picture is from the website. Already thanks for any reply. With best regards, Dirk

Hey everyone!! I've had a love for dinosaurs and fossils since I was a kid. I finally have some extra money now that I can spend on them! I just purchased this on online, hopefully it's authentic. I hope to learn a lot on here and spot all these fakes out there so I don't get burnt as well.

Hello all! I'm new to the fossil game and I'm considering buying my first tooth but after doing some light research, I'm not sure if the tooth I am looking to buy is 100% from the same tooth... So, according to the seller, this is a 6.5" Spinosaurus tooth (from Kem Kem, Morocco) and they have said that some repair has been done... They've glued 2 areas of the tooth (they haven’t specifically stated which area is) and also mentioned that they've repaired some of the enamel. From the pictures, I guess that it is the very end of the tooth where the enamel has been repaired, to possibly repair some 'feeding wear' (as I have learned that it is called!?) But after doing a bit of research, I am worried that this is not 100% from the same tooth (since I've discovered that these teeth are not usually found this large and people occasionally glue multiple teeth together to create a huge tooth, and not be 100% honest about what they've done). I have these worries because of the area about halfway up the root where the colour becomes a little bit darker and there seems to even be a little ridge between the two halves... I'm not fussed if this tooth has been restored in some way (glued etc) but I basically am just after some of your thoughts and opinions on whether you think this is ALL from the same tooth and not some kind of fake frankentooth!? Thanks for any help/expertise you can give :)

Bought this fossil recently. Was told it is a Spinosaurus Vertebrae from Oued Zem, Morocco. I'm questioning if it is really from a Spinosaurus since both ends appear to be concave, and I read somewhere that one end should be convex. One end seems to be much more concave than the other, but still doesn't seem right to me. I'm a novice collector, so I was hoping to get some expert opinions. I hope these pictures I took are adequate for some type of identification. Thanks in advance.

Hello, thoughts on this Spinosaurus claw, please? The color looks very odd to me--usually, claws I see for sale are more of a sandy color. But then--given the fact there are a lot of faked spino claws out there, I figure I can't really go with what I spot online. Also--the mosmatyched colors--some light bits, some dark bits. Finally--the structure of the claw is very rough. Much rougher than other claws I see online. Also--when I look at the groove, it's very rough and jagged. Not a smooth shape. I would appreciate others thoughts.

According to the owner/ seller, he showed his fossils from somewhere. And he marked them as the Phalanges of Spinosaurus and the Phalanges of Carcharodontosaurus. My question is, how do he classify them? For me, they are totally same. Would you share the knowledge about this part to me, please? Thank you. Red Flags on Dinosaur Material

I have not done red flags in a long time. Decided to look at just an auction site and was appalled at what I saw. Here is a small sampling of what I saw. A 5 1/2" Spinosaurus claw. Its a composite/fabricated and the red flag is just the price. You may not be knowledgeable to determine if its a composite or otherwise but these claws should be very expensive(in the thousands) and when you see them cheap especially big ones its a red flag. Most of the bones sold are identified as Spinosaurus. So be careful there are other reptiles out there. This one is from a Crocodyliform being sold as Spinosaurus Beautiful tooth unfortunately lots of sellers cannot distinguish between Ankylosaurus and one of the Nodosaurs in the Hell Creek. This one is an indeterminate Nodosaurid. Dont forget to get the county where it was found, especially if its Montana, needed for identification. Wow this tooth is being sold as ceratopsian, so that should give one a clue of the knowledge of some of the sellers listing fossils. Its Edmontosaurus Spinosaurus foot digit being sold. Nice claw but if you look at other views the phalanx belong to the hand not foot Caution everyone shopping for dinosaur material lots of mislabeled items out there not only from auction sites but some online dealers. Quality of this Spinosaurus tooth?

I am a total noob, this is my first fossil. Bought it just yesterday. I fell in love with Spinos long ago and when I realized I could actually purchase a tooth, I was on it. I got it at a pretty reputable store here in Tokyo that works adjecent to a science organization, so I felt quite confident buying it despite not knowing a single thing about what to look out for in terms of quality. The label says it's from Taouz, Morocco. It's 8.5cm / 3.3 inches long. I would love some feedback on whether this tooth looks restored or repaired in any way, or any overall comments on its quality. Note: the colors of the photos may be slightly oversaturated because my phone camera loves to act fancy. I tried my best!
