Fossils of 30-foot prehistoric marine lizard unearthed by Perot paleontologists. Called mosasaurs, the lizards were ‘great white sharks’ of the dinosaur era (From left) Mariah Slovacek, the Paleo Lab collections manager at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Ron Tykoski, the Perot Museum’s director of paleontology and curator of vertebrate paleontology, and Dori Contreras, a curator of paleobotany at the Perot Museum, excavates part of a mosasaur’s skull, lower jawbones and several vertebrae from its spine found in a creek bed on Friday, July 15, 2022, near the North Sulphur River in Fannin County, TX. The mosasaur was a 30-foot marine lizard that ruled the seas around 80 million years ago. -
Hello, I made a run the the North Sulphur River yesterday and there are a couple of finds that I’d like help identifying. The first looks like a coprolite to me but I’ve never ID’d one. Please confirm or deny. If it is one any ideas on what animal made it? It reminds me of a small dog poo. I’ve found this vertebrae but I don’t know what it belongs to. I doesn’t look like the mosasaur vertebrae I’ve found in the past. Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance!

Good afternoon to all. A colleague and I were doing some exploring in a creek bottom on our jobsite located in Fannin County, Texas. The creek we were walking in drains into the North Sulphur River. As we were walking we noticed a large bone sticking out of the creek bank. We decided to grab a couple of shovels and do a little more excavating. We came across multiple bones. As you may see in one of the pictures, we had to do a little digging in order to reach much of the bones, they definitely weren't just lying in the creek bank. I will upload more pictures with measurements. I kinda want to gauge if we stumbled across actual fossils, and if so we were hoping for some sort of inclination of what we may have found. The coordinates for the find are 33.4122,-96.0804. We were at least 15 feet below the grade of the jobsite in the creek.

Been a long time, finally got out for a bit and found my 3rd Plesiosaur vert along with some others. Also the first snake encounter of the season. This guy was only a few feet long. 49 degrees with 20 mph winds. Warmer days ahead! Late Cretaceous 80 mya

Found in the Sulphur river, Texas. This might just be a really weird rock but I would like to see if this is actually something.

I found this in the sulphur river in North East Texas. It is covered in a thin, light grey layer layer of rock and the center is a glassy looking grey/tan material with vain like patterns and a scaley texture. It has a smooth bottom that looks like it might have been attached to a smooth surface. It was in the wall of the river about ten feet below ground level. It broke when I hit it with a metal tool while I was digging. Any help with identifying this would be great. I've had it for years and have not seen anything that looks quite like it.

Hey everybody I got lucky yesterday searching the Sulphur River in Ladonia, these two teeth are shaped different than the first one I found - wondering if they are the same type of shark.

These were found at the Sulphur River at Ladonia Fossil Park yesterday - which fossils are from the crustaceous period from what I've read. The river is in the process of flooding so I searched far on the banks where I usually wouldn't probably look, since getting in the river wasn't an option yesterday. The white thing is the one I'm mainly curious about. But, at the rate I have been going, I may as well ask about the other one too, since I have yet to find a winner. Thanks again for your time, I truly appreciate it. Laura

OK so far everything I've posted has not been a fossil. I'm sure that this first one with the little snail dude is, but how about the second one? I feel like I can see something on that rock and I'm not sure what it is. Also, is the snail a fossil or is he considered something else. These were all found in Ladonia Fossil Park in North Texas, Sulphur River, Cretaceous period.

I found this at the Ladonia fossil Park, Texas, in the Sulphur River, it looks like it might be a fish in this rock towards the top but I'm not sure. I believe all findings in this water or from the Cretaceous Period. Thank you for looking and any help identifying. Laura
