I live at the bottom of a hollow in Buffalo Valley, TN. It was obviously under water at some point as I have tons of rocks with shell fossils all up my hill. I find crinoids all the the time. This is the first that I've found that looks like this though. It's maybe the size of a quarter. Is it a vertebrae from something?

Hello, this is my first post. I recently found this rock and was wondering what these impressions might be. It was found in landscaping near Ooltewah, TN, just north of Chattanooga (the property owner gave me permission to collect it). Are these burrows or traces of something else? I found something similar here, but I didn't see an ID. As an aside, would you crack it open (or saw it), or leave it as is?

These are all of my unidentified fossils from my trip to the Ross Formation in Sugar Tree, Tennessee. Most of the fossils found were Brachiopods, Crinoids, Trilobites, and Horn Corals. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12.

Found this encased in rock with a small patch sticking out. I carved it out with a diamond wheel grinder and then a diamond tip dremel. Dropped it one night and it broke a chunk off of the front so I decided to etch some of the inside out since I had read there was a rare chance it might contain a fossil pearl. If it does contain one it would have to be the oldest one discovered so far due to the period it is from. I think the oldest is 200-210 mill years old. Cumberland City was under water 300-500 mill years ago. Any thoughts? Any help is truly appreciated. Thank you all in advance. -Oosse

These are a few things that some of my family members found when we went on a hunt in the Coon Creek Formation in McNairy County, Tennessee. I'm pretty sure the smaller one is just some hematite formation but I'm not sure about the other one.

This is from the Devonian Birdsong shale in Parsons, TN USA. It is a solid spine resting across a Dalmanites retusus tail molt. I can’t think of anything with this slender taper and length other than a rare-for-Tennessee, Dicranurus spine. Is this a correct assumption?

I found this rock while searching for fossils in my backyard in signal Mountain Tennessee which is right outside of Chattanooga. I have no idea what it is but started doing some research and one of the first things I came across was that this area is known to have a lot of Chattanooga shale. Then I learned that Chattanooga Shell is supposed to have lots of Conodont fossils which are known for their teeth like structures. The pictures I found of those structures look a whole lot like this fossil. But I’ve come to believe that that’s impossible because my fossil is about 2 inches big and I believe the Conodont fossils are very small. found this rock in a creek but it very possibly could have been brought to my lot as landscape stone decades ago. Just dont know. any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello, I was gifted this fossil. All I know is that it was found in Tennessee. I believe it is a coral fossil but because of the 'stems' I can't find anything that matches it online. I know fossils cant be valued for price on here but if this is rare and I should contact someone about having it I would like to know. It is in limestone with quartz sparkles in the 'coral' pieces. Thanks so much!

I found this in my creek in middle Tennessee and after researching I think it is tabulata coral? Specifically favosite? It's about 3in/7.62cm long and 1.5in/3.81cm thick.

Hello!! I recently found a beautiful piece of (what I now know) seems to be honeycomb fossilized coral. I found it on my farm in Tennessee along with many other small fragments of this type of coral. This is the largest piece I have found and would love to know more about it!! I’d mostly like to find out close to how old it actually is? If anyone has some insight on this I’d love the help! Thank you!

Hello! Would anyone have any clue what this fossil is or if it is even a fossil? It was found on the top side of a rock in northern Tennessee, about 1/4 of a mile up a hill from a creek-bed.
