I found this strange cracked rock in the Oquirrh Mountains in Tooele Co (Ut) in an area that I've found fossils. It’s got a crusty sedimentary like texture underneath the cracked subaqueous surface. I sure would appreciate some help in identifying this rock and why it has strange cracks all over it??? I share many of my fossils and rocks w/ local school children, so it would be nice to know more about this rock before I share it. All of the pictures are of the same rock & one is a pic of the backside of it.

I found these fossils about a week ago next to Settlement Canyon Reservoir (Tooele County, Ut). I found them about 6600 feet up in elevation at about 1/5 mile away from the reservoir. The images are of the same rock but taken at different angles and sides, all except the last picture.

The first two pics are of a fossil I found w/ a front and back view. I found them in a fossil bed in the Oquirrh Mts. (Ut) There's a lot of trace fossils on this one, so it may be impossible to id them all. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. The 3rd & 4th pictures are of a similar fossil found in the same fossil bed w/ a front and a back view as well.
