Hello every one, does anyone can help me identifying this vert? It seems a thoracic vert, but I can't identify the animal, it was fished in the north sea so it's from pleistocene sediments. Maybe it's from a big cat? (that would be a Dream ahaha)

Can anyone identify this vert for me? I’m guessing some type of whale, but that’s as much as I can even guess. It was found in Black Beard creek in Liberty county, Georgia

Headed back to the Peace River yesterday after a 17 day absence. Water level and flow were a bit higher than I would have liked due to recent rainfall. I just couldn't stay away any longer! When I started the journey to the river the weather was cool and partly cloudy. Half way there I ran into light rain and fog and began to worry I had made a bad choice to make the trip (rain prediction was 50%). When I got to the river I had to prep the kayak under cover as the rain was coming down heavily. It tapered off as I donned my wetsuit and I set out under cloudy skies. Had almost made it to my planned hunting spot when the skies opened again with a downpour that forced me to hug the bank and hide under some low branches. It stopped raining after about 10 minutes and I continued on. After beaching the kayak I made my usual bank inspection. I reached down at one point and pulled up a handful of gravel from a crevice between some roots. Discovered a nice 1" Tiger shark tooth in my hand to start the day! Worked the area for the rest of the morning and pulled up another four tigers and a 1 3/4" partial Meg along with several other misc teeth. At one point a very large vulture landed on a log in the river within 30' of where I was digging. It sat there for about 15 minutes. It was unusual for it to be so close, and made me wonder if it thought I was it's next meal! Later, after it had left I circled over near where it had been sitting to work the area and finally noticed what the vulture was really interested in. There was a dead alligator, about a 10 footer, wedged belly up under an adjacent log. The alligator was covered with flies and bloated so its true size was hard to determine, but I could see it had some big feet with huge claws! Needless to say, I moved a bit away from the area to continue digging. Came up with some mammoth teeth fragments and a vertebra in the afternoon. Vert is 2" x 1 3/4" x 1 1/2". I will post it separately in the Fossil ID section once I have better photos in hopes of a possible id. attached are photos of the best finds of the day. No photo of the alligator as I was afraid I would drop the phone in the river! It also was not very photogenic.

I found this nicely-fossilized vertebra in the Peace River. It's broken, but there might be enough features left to ID it. It has a "Y" shaped imprint on the ends. Does anyone know what critter this came from? These verts confuse me when I try to ID them and I am never sure. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had this piece just sitting in a drawer for a long time and I believe that I bought it for $1.00 from a guy that I use to get some Oligocene White River stuff from in Scenic, South Dakota. This piece looks nothing like anything that I have ever found in the White River Badlands, and believe he got it from somewhere farther North in South Dakota. Looking at it, it looks dinosaurian and am wondering what others think? @Troodon Thanks

Spent a part of the day on the Potomac River. Found a vert of some sort. I believe possibly Alligator. Any info is appreciated. Also, is there a rule of thumb for the size of a vert approximates the length of the subject. I know I have heard a one inch shark tooth approximates a 10 foot shark. I had little luck with teeth except for the usual small stuff. I found a neat looking rock. I don't think its a fossil. Then a piece of iron or something. Here are some pics.

Short hunt but some cool finds. I love the nicely preserved mosasaur vert and the rooted mosasaur tooth.

This is my first trip report in quite a while. I probably need to go back and do some others to catch-up on some other neat finds. My son and I went to Gainesville yesterday with Wild Kyle. We had a great time, and productive day. I found a nice dolphin vertebra in someone’s spoil pile and my son actually dropped a posterior meg in the spoil for the next person. (I realized it was missing when we were taking a wrap up photo, and I went back and found it.) I was really excited to find the ray plate. The condition was not great, but i love finding these things fused. Kyle pointed out a croc scute in my screen that I definitely would have missed and he found part of a dugong skull cap. The nicest meg had a small crack, which broke on the way home, so I had to do a repair.

Not really sure Nodulised is even a word but I found it formed in a round nodule today, this is my first time cracking open one and finding a vert usually they have some part poking out. It was fresh from the cliff and had no indication on what was inside. A real nice surprise. Quite big and a nice split too. Comparison between a smaller recent vert.

Does anyone know how to prep out this vertebrae from Aust Cliff? Acid prepping Will burn through the fossil. It measures about 3cm from bottom to the top of the neural arch.

Most of our wind and weather is coming from the SW, so not a lot of goodies lately on the beach (south side of the Rapp). Always nice to get out though. My first hour I found two teeth. As the incoming tide climbed I kept telling myself to leave, but walking and looking did find five more, culminating in a funny shaped reddish mako/great white (guessing a lateral tooth). I thought the vert was an acorn top but was happy I picked it up. More footprints on the beach, need to try some new spots, but I keep telling myself that!

Thought you may be interested in this ichthyosaur vert i found. It’s the biggest one i’ve found. Really nice and chunky! Possibly from a Temnodontosaurus although they get even bigger from this species. This is from the Yorkshire coast. The vert compared to one of my other verts i thought was on the large side!

Hi everyone, Im looking at a bunch of stuff that someone got from the big fossil expo this month, but I want to be sure of what is what before I do anything. There's a few things way beyond what I could potentially get, but I'm just curious about in general. These are all Moroccan, and most, if not all, are Kem Kem. are these first 4 pics spinosaur? With the teeth I know the 2 on the top&left are probably carchar teeth, but I'm wondering about the other 2. In the 2nd picture, I'm guessing the right one is a spinosaur vert, right? What about the other one? I'm sure it would probably be very hard to tell with just a single rib, but could the rib be spinosaurus? It seems to match some museum spino skeleton ribs, but that's the best I can figure out:/

Hey y'all I've been wanting to add a Carcharodontosaurus bone to my traveling education program. I found this on the favorite auction site. I still don't seem to have a great grasp of vertebrae yet and I know my limitations so I'm here to ask for help. I appreciate any and all help. Thanks y'all.
