Hi everybody! My name is Rachel. I joined awhile back, but this is my first post. @Bullsnake is my husband. After a lot of encouraging he finally convinced me to post. Even though it isn't fossil related, we spent the afternoon enjoying the partial eclipse from our locality. I will post pictures on @Missourian's thread "2024 Total Eclipse". Hopefully soon i can post pictures of our fossil hunts!

Wifes Birthday Monday Looking for Meg/Angy and other decent fossil Location for Weekend Trip
mushroom_toy posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
My wifes birthday is on Monday so trying to surprise her with a 3-4 day weekend trip. Looking for locations in the southeast. Can go as far down as ft. Lauderdale area or top of nc on the north side. We have been to Edisto and Summerville areas before and unfortuantely just havent gotten on top of any good spots. She really wants a whole Meg tooth or nice Angustiden tooth as well, were used to mainly finding fragments in the Savannah area. I wouldnt mind that but would love to add some more bones/and or fragments to our collection as well. I do have a small john boat with a 4 horse outboard this year so have a lot more accessibility as far as the Edisto river goes if thats what I decide on. Looking for a trip that will hopefully not break the bank, but be productive and most of all be a nice relaxing trip where I can spend some quality time hunting with my wife!. if anyone has any suggestions please send em my way! We can use all the help we can get haha.- 4 replies

Well my youngest daughter has been really active as my "fossil buddy" the last month or so. I think she may have started something. You could have knocked me over with a feather yesterday when my oldest daughter (now 18) asked if we could go hunting. So off we went! I took her to a local stop in the Upper Cretaceous aged, Eagle Ford Group, Arcadia Park Formation. I was a little worried the spot may be played out as the youngest and I hit it about a month ago. But, it had rained so we tried it. While we were putting on our knee pads my daughter started spouting that she would find more teeth than me and that I was too old and tired to be effective anymore. Game on! We spent the better part of two hours crawling around sharing good companionship, some meaningful conversation, and just relaxing and enjoying one another. My day was absolutely made with just those things there. My daughter did quite well, finding a number of shark teeth including examples of Ptychodus whipplei and Squalicorax falcatus. She also scored a few fish teeth, several fish vertebrae, and a piece of shark coprolite. I was very pleased with her effort. I found about the same things and also found a gastropod and a piece of an ammonite, which I believe is part of a Prionocyclus. Who found the most? Well, so much for being old and tired! The time we had was outstanding. I include an image of our findings below. The first image is hers, the second mine. The third image is my attempt to show a site photo. It has 3 teeth in the image. See if you can find the third one. I apologize for the quality of the images. I think my camera is broken. I can't get that smudge out of the center.
