Youtube video of my prep space

I recently started a new YouTube channel exclusively for hosting my fossil hunting and prepping content. A lot of people who are new to fossil prep are curious about how other people set up their work areas and what tools to use, so I made my first video to discuss at this topic.

    Member’s Paleontology Websites

I created an alphabetized list of member’s (including former and non active) paleontology related websites including Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. I eliminated closed, overly commercial and sites that you had to sign up for. Let me know if I need to add more member’s websites or if the links are to websites that are overly commercial or do not have significant paleontology content. Links change and go bad. This is meant to be pinned and kept updated. I give permission for any moderator to keep it updated. It is curious how many members that have wonderful websites

    Fossil Youtube Channels

There are several good fossil youtube channels that I have found out about that I would like to share. They are a great way to pass time and learn more about fossils, and are also a good way to introduce friends and family too paleontology. I had to link to individual videos from their channels, because my computer would not let me copy the URL of the channel itself. Please add to this list with other good youtube channels that you know. PaleoChris I don't think this channel needs much explanation, as it is made by the person who created this amazing forum. He collects
  5. I made a quick video of my trip to Big Brook Preserve in New Jersey. Figured I'd share it here to show everyone. It was a lot of fun and we found a few shark teeth and some other stuff! Link to the Youtube video is below: Hunting for Fossil Shark Teeth- Big Brook Preserve
  6. Given the current troubles that have much of this world lockdown in their homes, I have collected the URLs for different collections of geology, fossils, and general science videos for the Houston Gem and Mineral Society. To share them with a wider audience I have posted the list below. "Let's be careful out there." Paul H. 7. Found this video on Youtube, and thought it was pretty ingenious. I like the DIY blaster box idea, as well. Thought it might be an option for those of us who cannot break the bank to do our own fossil prep. This has given me some ideas to try out. Hope this helps someone out. Good luck!
  8. Short little video i made opening a nodule. It popped out perfectly.
  9. I was searching around the Internet today and I came across a recent video on YouTube called "Trilobite Takedown". It was a seminar given by Melanie Hopkins (Assistant Curator- Division of Paleontolgy- AMNH) and posted on 2-27-18. I am not positive if it is the complete seminar, but the 19 minutes that were posted, was very informative to a mostly non-trilobite collector and Ms. Hopkins is a very good speaker. @Kane and @piranha I think you would enjoy this video. BTW- I do not know how to add links to posts like this, I am lucky I can turn on my computer.

Some great stuff here, if anyone hasn't seen it here it is Oh, hey @Cris
  11. I found several well-produced and entertaining Youtube, videos about fossils and fossil collecting, many about Texas localities. A very articulate young lady, KOI, showed and asked for help to identify Texas fossils. The fossils in the videos are well lit, focused and have species titles with them. Check out here the video "300 Million-Year-Old Fossils..." at 11:58 into the video and at 4:15 into the Whiskey Bridge fossil video. See her videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCE91a7T2yWjeZsRDo0pm-wg/videos Could someone who is signed up with Youtube

    Mini-Documentaries: PBS Eons

I have just recently discovered a Youtube channel called PBS Eons. It seems like they have just started producing videos a few weeks ago. They are small videos at under 10 minutes long but jam packed with information. I have found them quite entertaining so I thought I'd share them. They are posted once a week on Mondays. Here's the channel URL: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzR-rom72PHN9Zg7RML9EbA
  13. My friend and I had a fun time hunting in NJ today. He started a channel to share his adventures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqScsAkXOf4 Thanks.

    My New Prehistoric Youtube Channel

ROAR! Hi, I am The Prehistoric Master. I decided to start a new channel, to all us lovers of paleontology. So on the channel, you can expect to see something I call "Prehistoric News", where i'll inform you about the newest prehistoric discoveries. I will also upload videos, if I visit museums and places like that, get new posters, books, etc. I do not only love prehistoric life, I also colllect it. I have a big collection of fossils, that i'll show in a video, (when it's ready) and update with new videos, if I get more. Another idea i have is to make videos about PaleoArt. Who know's what the

    Friday Fossil Mystery

Hello everyone, I thought the readers on this list might have fun with the Cooper Center's YouTube channel, where we post a "mystery" fossil every Friday. Test your fossil ID skills here: We also have other series, including interviews with scientisits, an archaeology quiz show, and various programs to teach paleontology and archaeology to a general audience.
