Video of my blast box build

I asked the members here a lot of questions, and read through every thread on building a prep box, some of them many times. Even though I finished the box last year, I finally got off my lazy butt and finished the video. Thank you all for your help! Hopefully this can give some ideas or help the next member looking to build their own.
  2. I was so disapointed with the last concretion I started that I put it aside and started working on making some short fossil videos to put onto you tube. Here is one of many. My plan is to publish 2 each week. Enjoy RB https://youtu.be/pcTBB-QRKGw
  3. Here is my next comedic fossil prep video. This one, which was very fun to make, also changed my life. Down 27 lbs since this video was made.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs4ASmDGYkATR9JtBd97c8Q Here is my very first ever fossil video. I'm working on my second which is about prepping crabs and then more afterr that but it took me forever even with lots and lots and lots of help to get the You Tube channel started. enjoy RB

Youtube video of my prep space

I recently started a new YouTube channel exclusively for hosting my fossil hunting and prepping content. A lot of people who are new to fossil prep are curious about how other people set up their work areas and what tools to use, so I made my first video to discuss at this topic.
  6. Hi everybody. Im a bit slower than most when it comes to technology. Ive just started to watch fossil prep and other fossil video's on YouTube. Fossil Youtube Channels

There are several good fossil youtube channels that I have found out about that I would like to share. They are a great way to pass time and learn more about fossils, and are also a good way to introduce friends and family too paleontology. I had to link to individual videos from their channels, because my computer would not let me copy the URL of the channel itself. Please add to this list with other good youtube channels that you know. PaleoChris I don't think this channel needs much explanation, as it is made by the person who created this amazing forum. He collects minerals, does fossil hunting and searches for antiques in Florida and some other states. WILDKYLE This channel is very similar to PaleoChris. They hunt on many of the same areas, and often make videos together. Yorkshire Fossils The host of this channel mainly collects on Englands Jurassic Coast, as well as doing some nice prep work on his finds. He has found many ammonites, some lobsters, ichthyosaur bones, a crocodile jaw, plesiosaur bones and more. Benjamin Burger This channel is run by Benjamin Burger, the Associate Professor of Geology at Utah State University. He posts many lectures that are fascinating to watch, and discusses the topics thoroughly in an easy to understand manner. He also does a series called The Rocks of Utah, in which he explores geologic formations in Utah, the history of collecting at them, fossils found at the location, and how the rock layers formed. PBS Eons This channel is like a simplified version of Benjamin Burger, but is still very interesting, and talks about a variety of evolutionary concepts.
  8. I made a quick video of my trip to Big Brook Preserve in New Jersey. Figured I'd share it here to show everyone. It was a lot of fun and we found a few shark teeth and some other stuff! Link to the Youtube video is below: Hunting for Fossil Shark Teeth- Big Brook Preserve
  9. Found this video on Youtube, and thought it was pretty ingenious. I like the DIY blaster box idea, as well. Thought it might be an option for those of us who cannot break the bank to do our own fossil prep. This has given me some ideas to try out. Hope this helps someone out. Good luck!
  10. Hello folks, I don't know who here might be interested in the channel, but I've started recording all of my expeditions, learning video editing, and have started posting them on YouTube. I am currently working on three more videos for upload soon. The channel is based around exploration and finding stuff... Sometimes underwater metal detecting, lots of fossil hunting (via scuba diving, snorkeling, sifting, land site hunting, etc), finding sunglasses/phones/gopros (cleaning up trash as I go), hunting under bridges for stuff people throw over (a buddy and I found a computer hard drive, 4 guns and a dept. of corrections ID last year, all under the same bridge ), or maybe just hunting for beautiful places almost nobody ever sees (underwater caverns, deep in FL swamps, hidden springs, etc). There's no fossil hunting videos yet, but they are coming. Warning: there may be grown men acting like children and being very weird in some of these. Anyways, if you like seeing people find cool stuff, and go to crazy places in the middle of nowhere that almost nobody sees, you can click the image below to view the channel: There will be a new image uploaded this Friday, and then another on Monday. This was a spot where most of the stuff was older drops, so not that exciting. Found a nice working GoPro here...still working after 3+ years submerged. Warning: this one starts out very weird with us trolling people at the river.
  11. I was searching around the Internet today and I came across a recent video on YouTube called "Trilobite Takedown". It was a seminar given by Melanie Hopkins (Assistant Curator- Division of Paleontolgy- AMNH) and posted on 2-27-18. I am not positive if it is the complete seminar, but the 19 minutes that were posted, was very informative to a mostly non-trilobite collector and Ms. Hopkins is a very good speaker. @Kane and @piranha I think you would enjoy this video. BTW- I do not know how to add links to posts like this, I am lucky I can turn on my computer.
  12. I found several well-produced and entertaining Youtube, videos about fossils and fossil collecting, many about Texas localities. A very articulate young lady, KOI, showed and asked for help to identify Texas fossils. The fossils in the videos are well lit, focused and have species titles with them. Check out here the video "300 Million-Year-Old Fossils..." at 11:58 into the video and at 4:15 into the Whiskey Bridge fossil video. See her videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCE91a7T2yWjeZsRDo0pm-wg/videos Could someone who is signed up with Youtube help her ID her fossils or better yet ask her to post her fossils that need an ID on TFF. She would be worthwhile member. Thanks, John
  13. My friend and I had a fun time hunting in NJ today. He started a channel to share his adventures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqScsAkXOf4 Thanks.

    Friday Fossil Mystery

Hello everyone, I thought the readers on this list might have fun with the Cooper Center's YouTube channel, where we post a "mystery" fossil every Friday. Test your fossil ID skills here: We also have other series, including interviews with scientisits, an archaeology quiz show, and various programs to teach paleontology and archaeology to a general audience.
