It weighs 22 lbs and I found it on short sand beach. I was told by a ranger I could have it so no one come for me am trying to figure out what kind of tree it is and maybe Miocene era? Seems to be what others found nearby are labeled. also yay

Found in Michigan LP. Devonian age probably? Loads of corals and other agatized fossils wash up on that beach. This is the only one I’ve found like this.

Aparently I'm the first person to find a petrified egg w/o shell. Found in oregon, Southish westish. I've done some research, enough to know its "not" but ... I did try polishing so I could see thru better, it has little divets around it. Very interesting piece to me. Seems to have embryo, top little flat piece like egg inside. Thank you for any info, before I cut in 2? Lol

I think it looks shockingly similar to charnia. Maybe a cephalopod, snail, or plant? What could it be?

Hello I could use some help with finding out what I have. From what I've heard and seen on the internet it's something like agatized fossilized coral. This piece of coral weighs right at 18 lbs with shining crystals throughout. Any input would help greatly thanks

I purchased this from a shop in India that claimed it was a Petoskey Stone from Morocco. Obviously, this isn't true and I feel like it is probably not a Hexagonaria. Does anyone have any idea what it is? (Sorry about my phone leaving shadows and the images up.)

Hello, I have been going through some fossils that I bought a while back. I came across this agatized snail from Morocco. I’ve tried to find more information on these agatized snails, but have been unable to find much. Some sellers online say that they come from Assa, Morocco, while others say they come from the Dakhla region. I’m also wondering what species this little guy belongs to, and a more precise age for these gastropods, although I’m pretty sure they are Eocene. Does anyone have any information regarding these agatized snails?

Hello everyone, Merry Christmas! I have a few hunks of petrified wood I want confirmed, all three were found in the Denver area. I'm expecting that they're just all different examples of agatized petrified wood, but I want to make sure. The first two have been in my backyard since we moved here, the third my uncle found in his yard and gave to us. My question is, if they're all agatized petrified wood, how come they all look so different? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I’ll start off by saying I know nothing about fossils. However, I have someone who has found tons of stuff and I’m trying to figure out if they’re actually anything. They look like rocks to me but as many have pointed out to me so I’ll toss some photos out. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I don’t want to post too many photos so I’ll link my photobucket. (hopefully that’s ok)… If not, I can load them a different way. https://app.photobucket.com/u/photobucket1991pb The thing is they’re stating many of these are agatized dinosaur bones, crocodyliform and others. The items came from the Midwest region of the USA and there have been many Indian artifacts located over many years also in this area as well. Again, I think they look like rocks to me.

I bought this agatized dinosaur fossil at a rock shop in Indianapolis about 4 years ago. It is agatized and it was at risk of being bought and sliced up. I am glad I rescued it. It has an identifiable shape. The attribution was only that it came from the Western United States and that it was a plant eater. It is probably from an old collection. It weighs over 90 lbs. It is wrapped up at the present time in tarp material because I moved in 2018 and I have not unwrapped it yet. I am thinking possible sauropod femur upper end. I can get more pictures and measurements when I unpack it. Well, as you maybe can see it is agatized and you can see right down to its larger cells . Is this a part of an echinoderm? Thanks

I found this recently north of Hatch New Mexico. I was picking up lots of small quartz crystal clusters and thot this was maybe a cluster that got sheared off somehow. After a closer look and bit of a clean up I noticed the side views look like there is “stacked” formations. So the top has the hexagonal shapes and the sides look as if there is fairly uniform segments. The same general area has fossils like fusilinids, crinoid bits, shells at different levels. Also in the area rhyolite, chert and quartz crystal. Anyway, not sure if this is a fossil of some sort but have never found anything quite like it. PALEODICTYON is what came up when I googled hexagonal fossil. Certainly some similarities. Thanks for any help u can give me!

I saw this item for sale. The dealer calls it "unknown tooth or ck=law. Dino? Sadly, no provenance information is offered. It appears to be agatized. There are a few cracks that may have been repaired, but it doesn't appear frankenstinian. What are folks' thoughts on legitimacy as well as ID? thanks

I wish I could recall for sure where I found this. Most of my collection is from tide pools and coves on the West coast of the US but it could possibly be from Zion National Park in Utah, Kern River in CA, or a number of other places but those listed are most likely. It’s porous, lighter and slightly warmer than stone. The dark red areas are striated and softer than the rest. It does resemble some photos I’ve seen of agatized red horn coral, but I’m not sure. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Looking for ID help. This potential fossil was found on a dry lake bed in Southwest WI. In the same area this was found, I found other "classic" limestone Ordovician stromatolites exhibiting typical lateral columnar stratification in side view with convex tops and concave bottoms. This fossil has much the of the same structures but is partially "agatized". Could it be a stromatolite? All ID feedback will be appreciated.

Found in Cincinnati, Ohio during a parking lot excavation. I know very little about fossils. This is some sort of organic material. Porous, agatized with a bone fragment that looks like a tooth (last photo) in one of the holes. Please advise, Thank you.
