Air Scribe for White River Matrix

Hey everyone! I have a lot of fossils that I need to prepare from the White River Formation and was wondering what the best air scribe is to prep that type of matrix. The matrix can get very tough to breakthrough. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Fossil Shack Air Scribe

Hey everyone! I am looking for an air scribe to help remove matrix from fossils I am prepping. I am looking at the Fossil Shack Air Scribe since it is within my budget and looks effective. Does anyone know if it is good? I am looking to prep White River formation matrix and Lance formation matrix. Thanks!

    Carbide tips for Chicago 9361

Hey just a quick question so I've been hunting around and it seems like an air scribe is the way to go I found a brand new Chicago 9361 used and picked it up it has lots of carbide chisels and engraving tips but it has nothing with a really sharp tip. Where do you find tips for these? That are more geared for fossil prep? I typically dont grab a tool before I know how to use it but it was 75$ from somone clearing out a shop and it had never been used. Also I'm in Canada if that makes much of a difference for retailers?

    Need to rebuild CP-9361

Greeting to ALL! I purchased a used Chicago Pneumatic CP-9361 air scribe and it WAS working fine. Since I know nothing about the maintenance history of this scribe, I can only assume that a rebuild is required. Having never performed this rebuild before, I am asking for your assistance/guidance. For starters, how do I remove the little "c-ring" retention clip to open the tool? THANKS in advance! Dave

    Kobalt air compressor

I'm looking at purchasing a 1 HP, 4.3 gallon, 125 PSI quiet-tech Kobalt compressor to use with a microjack 6. Any thoughts about the suitability of this small air compressor?

    Air scribe question

I’m looking at getting my first Air scribe. There’s the obvious choice of Kens, although they are rather expensive, the second choice is the Chicago cp9361. It’s cheaper from a local tool supplier but wanting know if anybody uses it and can vouch for it, just don’t want to go spending without the information. Any help would be seriously appreciated. Thanks, Dan.

    Airscribe Question

SO I have a Question, For preparing fossils I know I should use an airscribe now, but what do I plug it into for the air? Does it come with something like a air bed blower? Or does it plug into the wall or some kind of special air tank?
  8. Hi. I have a Aero tool air scribe that works for 10 minutes and then stops. I have a water trap in the air line as well as a filter on the air feed line and the tool air line. It worked great for a year. I've replaced the stylus spring and the two o-rings with no success. If I take it apart and wipe all the parts down it runs for another 10 minutes. I put one drop of oil in the tool before use as recommended. Any thoughts anyone?
  9. I bought a new Chicago Pneumatic CP9160 engraver tool from Amazon last October. It works/worked very well for removing matrix. When I first got it, I didn't have an air drying system on my compressor, so I made sure to add a few drops of air tool oil each time I used it (per the manual). A month or two ago I added an air dryer (http://amzn.com/B00OJX6CJ2) to the system. Because of that, and the fact that the scribe kept blowing dirty oil onto the fossils (yuck!), I stopped adding oil. I typically use the scribe only once a week or so, and only for perhaps an hour, but even with that light
