Howdy all, I've seen a lot of fossils from Alligator americanus, but none from Crocodylus americanus, yet both are present in the modern day. Did C. americanus emerge later than A. americanus or are fossils of C. americanus being labeled as A. americanus for convenience?

Hi everyone! I recently acquired a menagerie of fossils from South Carolina rivers and these three stood out. The first two appear to be skull pieces, most likely from fish but I have no idea what type. The last one I think is some sort of bizarre tooth though I have no idea from what. Cetacean maybe? Not sure exactly where in South Carolina these were found either unfortunately though lots of Megalodon, Auriculatus, and Hastalis were found with them so for age I'm guessing late Oligocene to early Miocene though there were some Pleistocene mammals mixed in as well. Any insight is appreciated as always! 1. measures 38.53 mm long, 28.39 mm wide, and 10.88 mm thick 2. measures 39.91 mm long, 26.65 mm wide, 12.06 mm thick 3. Not sure how teeth like these should be measured on the forum so I'm just going to measure it like a dinosaur tooth. "Crown height" is 29.04 mm, "Crown base length" is 21.74 mm, "Crown base width" is 9.29 mm

I recently did some work for someone In the coal mining industry in Southwest Virginia/Appalachian Mtns.I noticed they had some fossils and they let me have some of them. Most of them were fossilized trees/fauna and such. But these right here stood out and was curious as to what they was. I'm no paleontologist but my impression it is some type of alligator. It was found near one of the coal mines on a mountain. There are a couple of other bones as well. I apologize if the quality of some of the pictures isn't the best, we're currently having lighting issues in my shop. Thank you for your time.

Got these in a lot from Florida. The first one looks to me like it could be a dolphin tooth. The second one seems like a tooth, but it is broader than the first.

I am a novice fossil hunter seeking some confirmation on a couple of finds in the Peace River, FL this week. I believe the images in the attached photo are a Tapir tooth and Alligator jaw section with two teeth. I would appreciate help in confirming or properly identifying these finds. I am also interested in information on how I can clean the "Alligator" jaw/teeth to remove green algae without damaging the specimen. Thanks

Spent a long day on the Peace River last week and came up with many bone fragments, teeth, etc. There are several items I can't identify and hope the knowledgeable folks here can help. First up, fragment of alligator bone?
