I believe this is a petrified mushroom I had dug up a couple years ago..i am wondering if it has now become amber..it is translucent when a bright light is against it..if anyone knows about this type of mushroom I would be interested on any info...thanks

I found this neat-looking fossil shell in my backyard. It is a rock with shell fragment with almost a full shell on it. I live 200km away from the ocean though, so whats it doing here? Can you identify what type of shell this is, and how old it is? It seems to be around 10 million years? The shell seems thick, so maybe its extinct?

Hello! I was on the beach recently when I found a rock with an interesting marking. After returning from the beach, I took a look at it. It did look like a fossil to me. I took a nice look at this "fossil" and found out it could be a Bivalve. It is clear it is in pretty bad condition- I cannot tell what parts of the "fossil" is sandstone and what parts is the actual shell. Even though it is quite deteriorated, someone might know what it is. If someone knows anything about this "fossil", tell me. Thanks for the help. Bye! Brachiopod

Never found a fossil before so please bare with me. Let me know if I have something here or not. Looks like some sort of bug because of the pattern on the backside. Also, I couldn't get a super close shot cause I'm using my iphone to capture the pictures but I could see what looked to be wing like veins or patterns in one part of the fossil.

Howdy from the heartland! My family has been arrowhead hunting and artifact collecting ever since I can remember. I use to go in the fields with my UncleJohn before the cancer got him. I continue to get out on the creeks which is a place I absolutely live to be. I have a so-so collection but I have had many hardships in my aging and have a limited assortment remaining. I had interested in learning about urgery replacing c6 last year with titanium, some screws and the bone grafts of two very precious donors. It is difficult for me to carry my head low for lengthy periods however I am getting by. I totally love arrowhead hunting but I mostly just totallllllly LOVE rock hunting in general. I also have been hunting with firearms since I was a little 'retriever' for my mom at age sevenish... I was taught early how to hunt and prepare the game and i am very good at it, thank you mom! I am very interested in discovering what I have found...I am ignorant to what all I have but I am totally aware that I have some very precious artinfacts or artifacts. U see the love in every instrument every fossil everything! my ears are listening my mind is taking notes and my eyes are wide open...up for discovery!

The Most Beautiful Fossil.......the Black Skull

Here is my favorite vertebrate fossil of all time. It is an undescribed genus and species that lies very near the base of the antilocapridae. It is known in the folklore of vertebrate paleo as The Black Skull. Here is another specimen of the same taxon And finally, this skull is another undescribed genus and species which lies at the base of the antilocaprinae, the subfamily which includes the modern pronghorn.
