Hi, my name is Nathalie, I'm the owner of the attached item. I have no idea what it is and have been looking for a long time for some ideas on the subject. It was in Tibet at some point, but cannot be originated from that country with certainty, it could be from anywhere really. There is also an XRF (Tibet.xls) of the item attached a friend in my family did in case it helps (sommet-1.jpg). I am a total noob on the fossil field and wondering if any of you has seen anything related so I can start research and understand what it is. Look guys I have a... well its definitely a something? Is it a plant, the top of a crinoid, a broken tooth, a really tiny volcano??? No idea. And as a bonus I have no idea where it came from either. It was given to me ages when I was a kid. So if you've got any ideas on what the heck it might be, I'd love to hear 'em! Thanks!

Hello and thanks for letting me join ,i live in Yorkshires have access to some very nice areas for collecting .My wife and i collect seaglass and go to Seaham near Sunderland quite often .We comb the beach and are mainly focused on the beach area for tiny pieces of glass ,however to anyone who knows this area it has a lot of stones and rocks ,at the hide tide/seawall area ,the rocks can be 7/8 feet deep and that's for very long lengh. So that's the area ,and occasionally i do find an interesting pebble ,but generally nothing Fossil wise . The enclosed pictures are of a Fossil i found a while ago and i really don't know what it is ,as any search for Fossil's from this area never brings anything up that is similar ,i personally have never seen another like it ever .I do appreciate it is more than likely nothing unusual as such ......maybe not a fossil at all ,just a pebble ...but that then asks the question ...why have i never seen one like it anywhere along that area...look forward to enlightenment ,many thanks .Steve.

Hi, I found this tooth in my garden around 15 or so years ago. I am based in England, West Midlands, we live in a town no where near countryside. I assume it is a cows tooth, can anyone confirm or provide any other info?

The fossil forum members identified this fish years ago but I lost that information due to a computer crash. I can remember they thought it came from Brazil? and had an age attached to it. I found it at an estate sale in Racine WI. in the basement of the house. The owner said it had been in that corner when he purchased the house and was more than happy for me to take it out of his way. I think it is very interesting but would like more information. Thank you

I purchased a clump of rocks from a seller stating "rocks from NY fossil beds". I prepped the "rocks" and found some trilobite pieces and this. Is this a plant or animal?

Hello friends. I found these today and really have no idea what they are. The pieces are like rock and were found in the general area of some fossilized wood I was seeking. The piece on the left is shaped like a thick disk while the one on the right has one side that is broken clean. That broken or cleaved surface is white in color and unremarkable upon close inspection with an appearance of white colored jasper. Any thoughts?

This is a small collection I have for my granddaughter for when she gets older. I’m limited to getting my fossils from antique shops or online except for the arrowheads. What would be something else to pick up for her that’s maybe in a different time frame or different then what I have. My budget it limited only getting one check a month so can’t spend a fortune. Ideas??

Hello again. I have several of these strange fossil discs. I cannot find tags for them in the boxes of minerals and fossils recently acquired. Possibly some sort of jellyfish? sea sponge? Any help with ID is of course always appreciated!

We found this jaw bone about 2 ft in depth around a pond that was dug out. I looked up raccoon which seemed to be obvious but it doesn’t have any front teeth. Can you help out by identifying? Thank you. I’m pretty sure it’s not very old. I'm just having a hard time identifying it. Thank you.

Hi, I am new to the forum and was wondering if someone could help me identify this bone I found and if it is, in fact, a fossil. I found this in South Bend Indiana in an area where drainage water runs through to a pond. I usually hunt this area for "fossilized coral", but today I found this bone literally just lying on the ground. I have found bones in this area before, but this one is different. It is rock hard and heavy. I was thinking at first it might be waterlogged but the bone isn't brittle at all and looking at the top of the bone, it appears to be rock (as evidenced by the picture). The bone is 9 1/2 inches (24 cm), very smooth, and non-porous except for the first 2 inches (5cm) of the bone which feels rougher but doesn't appear to be porous. I hope I have given enough information and the picts are acceptable. If not, I will give more info and take more picts as needed. Thank you.

I found what seems to be a fossilized human body part, not sure though. It seems to be something, but not quite sure what. Do you think it's just rock? It is rock, but do you think it's a fossilized human part? A museum I sent a picture to said it was just a rock, but I don't know if they would really want to tell me.

Hi All, This fossil is about 1" long, 3/8" wide and 3/16" thick. Found in Dallas Texas after a rain just peeking through the soil. Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brever

Can you guys identify this for me please? thank you! Very weird species. My observations: skull and dentition resembling modern felines, with eye sockets to the front and sharp teeth pointing to carnivores. If you look at the feet, knees and lung, the lungs are thin on top then enlarge at the bottom, the knees are similar to ours (bent to the front) instead of cats (bent to the back) and has large long feet. These three factors indicate the possibility of a biped specimen? Notice how each feet has one finger with an extra bone, like some dinosaurs, maybe housed a claw? However, the Waist bone and spine bending at the beginning of the waist bone show that the species is more inclined to walk on all fours. The problem is that this fossil is lacking arms, with no presence or indicator of even a shoulder socket (weird, or possible?). I am confused! Please help

Hi folks, Thank you for accepting my registration. I found this in Cumbria (Lake District), UK. The rock is a type of slate but not as flakey. It breaks up quite easily and usually has fractures running through it which can be prised open with a bit of effort. I'm not sure what I'm really looking at to be honest as it maybe a fossil or it maybe an artifact from splitting. Thank you for looking and hope to hear your thoughts. Ant
