Hey everyone, does this look like a tooth? I found this during my rock hunting trip in northwest Missouri near Grand River. It's approx 1.5" tall, 1/2" wide.

This oddity’s origin escapes me. I’ve collected rocks and shells from anywhere I can. Unfortunately, I’ll have a few like this as I beg for help in identifying my accumulation. Sorry. I am in Texas and that is the most likely place of origin but I’ve gotten things from all over. Any help would be great curiosity sucks sometimes. Thanks for scratching my itch.

I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I don't do something right. I was rock hunting this weekend near a NW Missouri small river and came across this. It looks like a petrified animal LOL. I am just baffled! It is in pure rock form. It's about 1.5" tall and about a half inch wide.

The only descriptions I can find of these are just that they are fossil shells and have "uncertain affinity", whatever this means. Is it simply not known what organisms they were, animal, plant or otherwise? Are there some speculations?

A specimen from the 1970's or 1980's, but unfortunately date and specific locality are lost to the ravages of mind.... I would appreciate any help in un-Insertae sedising this one! The light blue grid is one inch.

Good morning folks. I have a strange fossil that "looks" like it might be a devil's toenail or ???? It is filled with what looks like ocean debris. It looks like a shell, but has way too many layers. It also looks like some sort of coral or stromatolite. It came from a box of rocks purchased at a yard sale so there isn't any ID information. Anyone know what this really is?
