    Fossils in Chicago?

Hi all! Well, I'm excited to say that my husband and I will be traveling to Chicago for a weekend in April - yay!!! I'll be on my own on Saturday, April 13 while he attends Star Wars Celebration. He suggested that I go for spa treatments, but I said that there are better ways for me to spend the day - I can get spa treatments anywhere, but this will be my first time in Chicago!!! So, I was wondering, is there any chance of finding fossils in the city, perhaps somewhere along the lake shore? And if not, are there any other suggestions for what I can do to pass the morning/afternoon while my husband is nerding out at the convention? Thanks for your help! Monica
  3. Hi everyone! I've had quite the month here in Wilmington, NC. After some recent dredging, I've been scouring the beach (often multiple times a day) for any good finds. As far as beach hunting goes, this is by far the most productive month I have ever had, with some of my all-time best teeth coming out of Wilmington. I'm really excited to share some of my finds with you guys. The teeth pictured are only the best ones found from April 20th to May 20th, 2018. There are many more not pictured that did not "make the cut". If anyone has information about any of my teeth or would like an alternate angle of a particular tooth, please reach out! Happy Hunting

  6. Well here it is April 15th 2018 and I was supposed to go collecting Yesterday and today.... Well didn't happen .... Here is a picture of my backyard this morning.... 7. It might be just me and my 7 year old for spring break this year and was wondering what you all thought were the best places to hunt in the first week of April? Last year we did Texas, which was fun, but would like to go somewhere new. I believe mazon collecting starts then? That's nearby and a possibility. I figured hit some road cuts and geode digging if we stay in the wisco Illinois area. I'd love to hit up the peace river as I hear that's a good time of year, but I worry about the gators down there's. I saw a place that rents canoes and will drop you off up stream which is cool. I just worry about a 7 year old being easy prey plus the fact that she can't swim. Any thoughts on safety with that? I really would like to do fishdig in wyoming, but unfortunately they dont open until late May. Anyone else have any good recommendations for this time of year? I'm open to pay to dig or public areas. Thanks in advance.
