I went on a 6 1/2 mile kayak adventure with a couple of friends on the North Sulphur River. We started off the day at 7AM by seeing 2 bald eagles and almost getting one truck stuck in the mud. We managed to get the truck out and started our adventure. As soon as I got down by the bridge I found one of my best artifacts to date and a nice piece of mastodon tooth enamel. We got a mile or so in and something made me ask my friend if he had the keys to his truck that was parked 6 1/2 miles downstream? Lol he had left them in the other truck without thinking. He went back and got his keys and the adventure begin. We saw very little footprints the entire trip. We didn't find many artifacts but I filled up a 1 gallon ziplock with mosasaur bones and other random fossils. One of my friends found his first shark vert, mosasaur vert and point so he was really excited. I gave my new hunter friend all my lower quality items and didn't bother taking pics of them. The water was low in some places so we had to drag the kayaks a lot but it was fun. We were finding so much stuff that we realized we would never make it the other vehicle before night if we did not quit hunting and paddle. It was so hard passing by untouched bars lol. We managed to make it back to the bridge by 7PM which was 12 hours later. Getting the kayaks up the steep bridge at the second location took all 3 men and a long rope. I got home at 9:30 PM. I'm sore but found some great fossils and artifacts. My phone died early in the trip so I missed out on some great pics. For some reason I can only post a few pics at a time since the latest update.

I explored a new creek spot on the North Sulphur River and had a good day with a nice variety. The Native American pottery and artifacts were a nice surprise at NSR. I rode over to Post Oak Creek only to find my favorite spot posted so I explored a new spot for one hour and found a few nice teeth.

My hunting partner cancelled on me so I decided to try out some new spots alone in Northeast Texas. My luck was bad! I started off my day with a leaking boot in 35 deg weather. At my next stop I had three dogs across the creek growling and barking at me. I figured they would go away. I was wrong! They came barreling down into the creek aggressively towards me. The largest of the three was determined to bite me while the others growled. I went to war with my 5 ft hickory walking stick. After a couple of solid hits I won the battle and they retreated. They climbed back to the top of the creek bank and growled and barked at me for another 30 minutes or so. I found a few items and walked a mile back to my truck only to realize I had lost my phone. I started to give up and just report my phone lost but decided to look for it. I hiked the mile back through the woods down into the creek and somehow managed to find it. I did manage to find a nice size shark vert, fish vert and a couple of artifacts. My Brazos hickory walking stick has saved me more times than I can count from hogs, dogs and waist deep mud. It's a little heavy but worth it.

Here's a few of my finds from my last couple of Northeast Texas creek hunts. It's been pretty slow but I'm trying again tomorrow. I did find a killer Ginsu shark tooth and cool fish vert with partial process. I didn't know what the little penny trinket thing was until an older gentleman told me lol. The one vert with four pics is Pleistocene but I have no clue from what. We did find a large nest of cottonmouths where two males were fighting for a large female. We saw herds of wild hogs and had quite the kayak adventure. One kayak trip was 5 miles deep in the woods where we had to go over 7 log piles with the kayaks. I'm also unsure what the little white tooth is with multiple pics by the trinket. It has thick enamel whatever it is. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Not many fossils on this hunt but plenty of artifacts. Did manage to find one good size mosasaur vert and one pristine shark tooth. I ran into a mother hog and her babies, numerous other herds of hogs, snakes and more spiders than you can count. I also sunk in mud & water up to my chest and I'm 6ft 4 lol. North Texas creek hunt.

Fun North Sulphur River Texas hunt. The big Tylosaur tooth and coprolite were my favorite finds of the day.

I found a very nice variety of items while hunting my new favorite creek. I think the formation is Eagle Ford. I found a nice ammonite bed that I"ll start checking after a good rise. I had to leave the 50 lb + ammonite until I can get a boat or raft in there to float it out 2 miles. The old US military button was my favorite find of the day. The button is 1902 or later but still very old and makes you wonder how it ended up there? Two of the shark teeth are pretty big.

Hi All! New to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I've been hunting western Florida for the past 6 months and have dived in teeth first!! On here to get info on some of my finds and learn more about the amazing/beautiful/jaw dropping things we all find in the dirt/clay/surf/rock. Been in love with fossils since i could see! Have a deep passion for ancient creatures and connecting the dots for the last 30+ million years one fossil at a time. I'll be posting some of my finds in the next few days, please feel free to strike up a convo, ill listen to you brag about all the cool stuff you found!!! I primarily land hunt for shark teeth and bone (whatever it may have been from) You never know in Florida (some of you know exactly) Happy Hunting! GWM

It's not a fossil per se, but my aunt gave me her arrowhead she found in 1966. She wrote the date on one side and her initials on the other in red permanent marker. Is there a safe way to remove this?

I went to Sherman Texas Post Oak Creek for my second time today to hunt shark teeth. I found a nice variety of fossils and one killer Wilson artifact that is 7,000 - 9,000 yrs old.

I hit 3 spots on NSR yesterday with a friend. We waded some waist deep water and mud but had a good day and some good finds. We found a nice variety of fossils from Pleistocene to Cretaceous. The killer Dalton artifact was the highlight of my day. The last pic is my friends finds for the day. Can anyone ID the large tooth on the bottom left of the last pic?

I had a short but good hunt today at the North Sulphur River Texas. I found Cretaceous, Pleistocene and Middle Archaic items. NSR has it all.

I had the day off on Thursday and after that storm we had on Wednesday night I couldn't help but go looking for some fossils. I got down there at sunrise and headed down to the beach, thats when i realized that the water was extremely high due to rain and the water was very murky. I didn't find much all day but i did make a friend who was new to hunting for fossils, said he hunts for gems and arrowheads. I ended up giving him most of my shark teeth and bones, in exchange he gave me an arrowhead and a piece of quartz crystal. So the day wasn't a total bust. I'll add some macro pics of some nice extinct tigers I found. Boneheadz

Hello everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas! Here is what I got for Christmas Here's what they are in order: Cave Bear Ursus spelaeus canine tooth (4"), Cave Bear finger bone, Ohio Native American knife/arrowhead, Native American arrowhead from Logan Creek, Iowa, small Mosasaur tooth, bag of Hell Creek micro matrix, a nice sized chunk of meteorite, and a beautiful piece of Labradorite

I am a resident of wisconsin and i live in the Milwaukee area. Every year, my family and I go out to Wyoming to a town where my grandma has lived for the last 30 years, Doubois, WY. We go there for about a week and rock pick and explore. We find agate, petrified wood, fossils, one arrowhead, this unidentified rock that looks like a small dinosaurs leg with a couple pieces in the back of the rock as well, which i found in the Wind River, and a bone carved into the shape of a tooth (obviously not chewed or naturally formed that way) i found at the back of a pitch black cave. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what these are or if they have any ideas where to take them and have them looked at. (It will only let me post the rock, the bone pictures won't fit, hopefully i can figure something out)

Fairly new fossil & arrowhead hunter. I mainly hunt the North Sulphur River in East Texas. So far I've found Mosasaur teeth, Mastodon tooth enamel, Exogyra by the carload, arrowheads, Mosasaur paddle bones, Baculites of all colors and sizes among other cool fossils. I'm always up for a good weekday hunt while I'm home from offshore if anyone is interested in going.

Hi I have had this.....something since I was 7 when I found it in a peice of rotten wood. Hi there - I've been living on the Outer Banks for a few years, and been visiting for 28 years and this week I found 3 of these "fossils". I have never come across anything like this here on the Outer Banks before. I am not sure if that's what these could be. Can anyone please help me to identify these three pieces? Thanks a lot!

Hello, I wanted to get fellow fossilers thoughts on a mako tooth I found in the Venice boneyard back in 2009 while doing a dive with Florida West Scuba. The mako tooth was broken and encrusted in coralline algae (see 1st pic below). It was my first tooth dive and at the time I was not familiar with coralline algae and did not realize it was a shark tooth. I grabbed it thinking it looked like an arrowhead. When I got back to the boat, Captain Steve asked what I found, and I told him I think I found an arrowhead. He gave me a funny look and asked to see it. He told me it was a mako tooth (Note: the tooth is broken/altered and still measures 2/12 inches), and seemed fairly certain it was manmade into an arrowhead. I even overheard him telling Marie (diving guide on the boat) he really wanted the tooth and she commented that he must have something in the shop he could trade for it. I posted a couple "no so good" pics on a scuba forum, but got some mixed reviews. So I decided to take a couple new pics to see what people here thought about the tooth possibly being made into an arrowhead or maybe a point. Thank you for your thoughts! F.Y.I. I wish I would of left the coralline algae on the tooth, it looked much "cooler" to me.
