  1. Bought this a year ago. Assumed the little bit of detail in the eyes meant it was authentic, but I'm not sure anymore. Seems like the spines are fabricated at the very least. Would love opinions since I'm still pretty green.
  2. Just wanted you guys thoughts on this Denovian trilobite from Morocco. Is it authentic or does it any restoration?
  3. Hi, I'm concerned that these four trilobites may be fakes. I bought them a long time ago by a guy, who claimed they were genuine. Some of them, especially the Psychopyge, almost looks too good to be real. But I wanna know what other people think. Thanks.
  4. How could this possibly happen??? How would they eyes be so dark while the rest is barely visible? And not just that, how are the eyes just the silhouettes, and not solid? It's not like they were made of anything different, or different in any other way. They couldn't be have been fossilized in different ways. is this possibly genuine??? I totally trust this persons other stuff, this one just seems so impossible to me.
  5. On the possible vertebrae: Was told it was a fossilized vertebrae, nothing else really remembered by me at this point. On the Amber: I’ve tried the “tests” to authenticate it, and it seems real, but because there are insects in it, I’d like to double check it’s real and not fake (I have my doubts though) (update, I’ll post the Amber picture separately)
  6. I'm interested in adding a dinosaur Egg to my collection. I know these are commonly faked and would like some advise to spot a fake or a reputable dealer. Or possibly someone on here has one they are willing to let go of? Any info is much appreciated
  7. So I just got this Thescelosaurus tooth. I'm worried that it isn't real or actually a Thescelosaurus. I've purchased from them before and I just want to make sure. Can I get some conformation? Also, this is my first post on the forum!
  8. Alright guys, so I have been wanted a keichousaurus for a while but haven't gotten one out of the fear of purchasing a fake. I am very aware that fossils on ebay from china are (the majority of the time) fake, especially keichs. The one I am looking at right now is from a ebay seller out of Hong Kong, but it looks especially roughshod, which I am hoping is a sign of authenticity. Most of the fakes I believe look very perfect and painted with dark blank paint, however this one looks in bad shape or only half prepared. I do not mind how decorative it looks, I would just like it to be a real fossil. I attached some pictures that the seller has up. Please let me know what you guys think! And thank you!!!
  9. My friend was scrolling through our favorite auction site when he saw a Keichousaurus that in my opinion looks authentic(I already have a real Keichousaurus) but I just want a confirmation form the experts so please tell me what you think.

    My Display Overview

Hello there paleontologists, fossil enthusiast, and everything in between. If you couldn't tell this is the first content I've ever made on the fossil forum so please excuse errors and, or inexperience I apologize in advance. Here is my collection of display fossils as well as modern bones keep in mind this is purely what I have on display I keep the vast majority of fossils I posses in storage with lots of support such as bubble rap and various other materials to ensure complete security of precious peeks into our planet's history. If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask as you please. These are all authentic fossils 2 have been directly seen by a professional (Ursus sp. & Unidentified Dinosaur Cretaceous Rib) The Dactylioceras sp. is very clearly a real specimen however there was no authority on it's authenticity the two Hadrosaur fragments are authentic as well one purchased with it's card of authenticity by D.J Parsons and the other was purchased from the very same hunter whom discovered the Cretaceous rib section. (Note: individual specimen content will be released in time)
  11. I bought this turtle skull. I was apprehensive about its authenticity, so I took it to a museum that housed similar specimens. The man I spoke with spent time looking it over with all sort of magnifying objects. (Obviously you can tell I'm not a collector, I just thought this piece was interesting.) The man told me it was authentic. I want some second opinions, and if you also think it is authentic, then are you able to distinguish and classify its species for me? Help would be greatly appreciated. I took several pictures but for some reason the site is only letting me upload one. Other photos will be in the comment section.

    Laws abiding Fossil Collection.

Dear all, Is anybody aware of the legal prospects regarding Fossil hunting and Collection in India. Please let me know if there is any provision of registration of such collections such that I can legally have possession of Fossils and related stuff.
  13. Hello everyone, This is my first time here, as well as my first time purchasing fossils. I'm interested in purchasing the attached fossils. How do I know whether or not they're authentic? I would really appreciate some help.
  14. Hi, I am posting a question to help my mom. She is very fascinated with ammonites after seeing my collection. She found this one online and she wants it but isn't sure if it's authentic or fake. I have a surriceras ammonite with similar markings but I can't personally tell with this one being uncurled. any help is appreciated
  15. Hi there! I was just wondering if anyone has experience buying and selling dinosaur tooth fossils. I was looking to purchase my first dinosaur tooth as a gift. Many prices on sites can be extremely pricey, I was taking a look on ebay and the prices are relatively cheap for what I'm looking for. I was wondering how to tell whether or not these are authentic tooth fossils. If someone could give me their opinion on purchasing a tooth I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
