Hello, everyone I am in trouble with the prep work and I need everyone's help. Thank you all A few days ago, I repeatedly applied b72 (3:100) on my jawbone (because it was expensive, I couldn't buy enough to soak it), but today I found that the surface of the bone was severely weathered. After using b72, the bones became relatively hard, but the weathered parts also became brittle and easily fell off during contact... I purchased b72 (10:100), and I want to ask, is it suitable for me to countinue reapply b72 (10:100) on its surface in the current situation? Thank you!

Where to get Paraloid B72 in DFW and Other Questions
Mikrogeophagus posted a topic in Fossil Preparation
I've been recently looking into working with b72 for preserving and strengthening some of the pyrite and coal fossils I have. At the moment, I have a few questions regarding this topic: 1) For DFW folk, do you recommend any stores that sell b72 in the DFW area? For others, do you recommend any reputable online stores that ship it? 2) Should I store acetone in the original container I purchased it in? What is the safest part of the house to keep it? 3) What are any general tips/tricks you wish you knew before you started using b72? Feel free to answer as few of my questions as you'd like. All advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!- 10 replies

So, I thought I would share this topic with you all. This is going to be the beginning of a long thread with any luck. This is the first one I have prepared, coming close to the end. It's turned out ok. I feel it could be better, While looking at multiple examples, and studying the bone through journals, previously prepped specimens, and other resources is great. It's a completely different game, learning to prepare first hand, and the differences in each nodule affecting position and rotation of the bones. So a friend of mine contacted me saying he had some unprepared nodules, and me loving a prep challenge, accepted. . Arriving shortly after my trip to the IOW, (which went well and I will do a report on shortly) this nodule was delivered by the good local postal woman It had already been split to check the contents, and was more of an example piece than a more pristine uncracked nodule And this is the current prep stage I am at. Just exposing more of the vertebrae column and ribs and the fine details, and smoothing out the scribe marks. This work can take some time, as it needs b72 after each new section is exposed, due to how small and fragile the bones are, but when you compare this to how they are normally seen( just split in half with a complete loss of detail) I think the time is well worth the effort, and once this is finished I can't wait to get started on the next one. I hope you all enjoy reading this short prep story and will try and post more of my prep work in the future. (Been slacking on the show and tell part in recent months.)

I would like some paraloid B72 solution for protecting fragile fossils. I have found the paraloid B72 crystals for sale. What percent solution should be used for fossils, using acetone as a solvent? Is there any special way to mix it? Is there a way to safely store it?
