Tonight, I was trying to pull up directions for a friend to the wonderful astrodapsis collection site in scotts valley...seems that this site has been posted with no trespassing signs...as indicated by a few posts i've seen online..if this is indeed true...its a loss of a valuable site...its an area that was collector friendly for kids and beginners...it was a wonderful spot that started many collections..I will miss this spot.

Hey guys new to the forums and thought I’d make a post to have you guys help identify some possible fossils that i found in a local creek after heavy rains. There are lots of mission era ranches so there is a possibility of them being old but not fossilized cow bones. Let me know what you guys think

I wanted to get out of there house to do something social distanced outdoors. I'm very new at fossil hunting and I was wondering where I might be able to go in/near Santa Cruz CA or anywhere north of there. Thanks : )

Interesting little 'rocks' from today. 2 may be nothing, 2 I'm pretty sure about, and 2, seem to be imprints. Hope you guys can tell me. Again, Half Moon Bay. Also, how do I clean these?

My daughter insisted I bring this home, and I wondered if it's a fossil or just an interesting rock.

I have a question. So I live in Florida, and looking a the map I am attaching I live in the Hawthorne Group. So.... if I dig in a creek am I likely to find fossils? I'm trying to look at these geological maps and distinguish areas which are likely to yield fossils. Particularly shark teeth. Can anyone school me up in this department? Thank you!!

Gem, Mineral, And Fossil Show This Weekend In Sf Bay Area
siteseer posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
Today, I checked out a show in Los Altos, CA (town between Palo Alto and Mountain View, northern California). It's the 5th Annual "Recreation with Rocks" taking place Saturday and Sunday (Oct 20-21) at the Los Altos Civic Center Youth Center at One N. San Antonio Road. It's a couple of miles south of the intersection of San Antonio Road and El Camino Real. There are signs for it around that intersection. The venue was rather small - basically classroom size - though it was well-attended in the time I was there. The only fossil dealer was the same one who had set up at the Santa Clara Vall -
