I want to thank @AncientEarth for the wonderful prep work on this specimen. I'll be excited to pick it up next month. Aaron does really good work and I will definitely use him again in the future.

Ammolite Ammonite Prep Project Bearpaw Shale For Trade
svcgoat posted a topic in Member-to-Member Fossil Trades
I have pieces of Ammonite with ammolite from the Bearpaw Shale in North Eastern Montana. The pieces are in the condition that they were collected in from the field. I am not sure if the ammonite is complete or not, some of the pieces may be from the positive or negative of the fossil. If prepped the ammolite should look nice. As it is from the Montana part of the formation the mineralization is thinner than the Canadian mines and therefore I don't recommend doing a full polish. It will be a fun prep project. As the specimen is heavy shipping will be determined based on where the recipient is located. I am looking for other Dinosaur age material (Dinosaurs, Ammonites etc) Preferably from North America however I will look at Europe and Asian specimens as well. -
So I decided that I would finally make a point of documenting some of these back country field excursions, and made a Youtube channel to keep the videos all in one place. Here's a a rather ordinary extraction of a placenticeras ammonite found the day before we did a little field work with some paleontologists. The GoPro is a fun addition to my kit, and makes it a lot easier to document the actual process of finding and extracting these things in the field. Anyway, I'll let the video speak for itself - enjoy! (click the image to open video link)

The stuff from the Bearpaw formation no one talks about
LabRatKing posted a topic in Member Collections
These came to my personal collection from an auction at a high school that shut down. Normally I prefer to dig my own, but these were too cool to ignore at a buck each. I got lots of other science stuff too! Nothing like picking up a few goodies on the side while buying glassware and microscopy stuff for work! -
This concretion was actually from a fossil trip last year. Its two ammonites in one rock but the bigger ammo has half of its beak right in front of the appature. Amazing. These are known as Rhaeboceras halli and are from the Bearpaw Shales of eastern Montana. He brought it over to my garage and wants me to 'clean' it up. RB

Found these in the Bearpaw formation along the banks of the Oldman river near Lethbridge, Alberta. I know it's a hail-mary, but can anyone venture a guess?
