Bivalve from KT Boundary phosphate deposits in central Jordan
David Cothran posted a topic in Fossil ID
Can anyone help me with ID of this bivalve from central Jordan? From commercial deposits of phosphorites that span the KT Boundary. Occurs in very dense masses of thousands of individuals. Neighboring specimens seem to have been appressed in life. My hand is the only scale I have available, but should give an idea. Thanks for any help! Please see comment below for images. -
Found this at Skiatook lake in Oklahoma for a day trip. I’ve had the darnedest time figuring out what time period it could be from or what type of clam. I think it looks a lot like a modern day giant ocean clam, and comparing it to all the clam and shell type fossils I can find in encyclopedias and online none look quite like this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, So my husband and I are more rock than fossil fans but somehow we have these two things in our collection and i really want to know what they are and how old they are. The petrified wood was in a collection we bought from a guy who received it from a collector in France. The bivalve am i not really sure if it was in the same collection or my husband bought it from someone in Romania. Any help will be appreciated. I'm sorry for the quality of the photos.

Hello! I found this item in the mouth of a creek that empties into The Great South Bay on L.I. The creek has been used by Indigenous Peoples before European settlers arrived circa 1720. Is this a petrified oyster? I can’t tell for sure, but I feel the dark/gray/silver area is what’s left of the calcium? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I whacked apart a concrete on today and found a beautiful bivalve but it split quite a bit. My friend superglues his crab concretions back together to etch them out. What is the best technique with this precious?

Hi This is my first post, but I have been collecting fossils for probably 10yrs mostly on the Jurassic coast Dorset UK. I have quite a collection now especially because of the abundance of fossil opportunities in Dorset. Could I ask for help in identifying a few I found last week. These are from the Kimmeridge clay which is marine clay from the late Jurassic to lower Cretaceous in Weymouth Dorset. The easiest is the fossil oyster which can be quite large. But the others I'm unsure of, possible sponge ,coral piece's and a brachiopod? Many thanks Rob

When I was a kid I found this bivalve fossil and now looking at it, I think it lived attached to something on one side. You can see how one of the shells is deformed in a wierd way. Is it a known and common phenomenon? Also I would like if one of you can help me get an ID on this bivalve.

Have some Mid Devonian brachiopod or bivalve shells that I am not sure about, tried to do some research on my own on what I found. Hoping to get some ID confirmation or help here. Greatly appreciate the help. 7 pictures below: 1. Bivalve Shell? Moscow Formation I believe 2. Brachiopod Shell, never found another like this one? Windom Shale from Livingston Co. Wondering the difference between these two spirifers: 3. 4. 5. Rhipidomella? 6. or is this Rhipidomella? 7. Bonus, cephalopod? gastropod?

For possible future sales/trades I’m wondering if there are people interested in miocene - pliocene fossils similar to these on the picture below. For trades I would mainly be interested in shark teeth material or micro matrix. Please reply or send me a Pm.
