  1. Hey y'all... Another piece from Peace River, Florida... I have no clue what is.... Thank you for your time... =)
  2. Dear All, I want to buy a dinosaur bone slice but I also see the Palm or some Wood slices are very similar. Are you able to see the difference between what is wood from what is dinosaur bone at the attached photos? Best regards. Alvaro.
  3. Not sure if it matters where it came from but just in case, was in a mix of QAL and Eagle Ford. Thought it was bone when I picked it up but it felt funny like plastic and weighed nothing. Figured it would float but didn't, thought surely it would melt with flame but didn't, and no smell. I've shown it with piece of worn bone for comparison, but I'm still perplexed. What else could it be? Last picture is the bone.

    turtle marginal?

I came upon this bone while sorting my old boxes. It looks like the dorsal edge of a turtle marginal. I say this because of the slit on the inner surface resembles the split marginals make. It is the surface pattern that puzzles me. I am unfamiliar with the freshwater turtles from this area and hoping someone can identify this.
  5. Hello everyone, while I was getting some exercise exploring the badlands here in central Alberta (Red Deer river valley Scollard formation I believe) I found a piece of fossilized bone that must have been recently exposed due to spring thaw. I am no guru however it appears to have some predation marks on it (third picture left side) & to me looks like it could be a leg bone? I'm looking for some help confirm these are in fact predation marks & also to ID the bone itself if possible. I know its difficult due to it being just a small fragment but any help or additional info would be greatly appreciated. The fossil measures approximately 9cm in length by 4.5cm at the fat end & roughly 3cm at the thin end. Hope that helps. Thank you in advance for the help!
  6. Hello everybody. I have a question: I saw this online, according to the description it is a fragment of dinosaur bone from the morrison formation, found in Utah. I know that it is very difficult to attribute specific species to such fragments. However, I would like to know, at least, what genre it could be. My personal opinion is that it resembles a piece of ankylosaurid skin plaque. The bone has been polished on one side, which can be seen in the fifth photo. That is the question that I would like you to help me solve please.

    Fossil bone?

I found this weird bone? From ignaberga sweden. Its upper cretaceous in age. Marine reptiles lived there if that helps to id

    Help ID'ing Cape Town Find

Hi there! My girlfriend and I finally managed to get to the fossil spot here in Cape Town - South Africa (a spot where fossilized shark teeth and whale bone wash up onto the beach) and we are both hoping that what we have found is actually fossilized bone! If any of you could confirm what this is I would be extremely grateful!
  9. Sinestia

    A little help?

As mentioned in my opal post this was also in the mystery box and was looking for any ideas. About the size of a deck of cards.
  10. Hey Everyone, Found these two today at the NSR, Delta County, Tx. I do believe I found my first crustacean but would like verification. Maybe species to have it mark correctly. Do I just soak it in clear elmers glue and water like the bones to help preserve it? Second is a weird bone. I thought it might be paddle bone but I look and with my limited experience I do not think so. Great if it is, but if not, what is it? Thanks in advance for any responses.

    Just Weird...What is this???

Ok found this Odd thing at first thought it might be petrified wood but I tried looking at it through a microscopic camera and could not find any of the basic fossil wood cell structure that I normally find on petrified wood. There are places on it that look mesh like? ....well I took a close up of it ... if it were some type of bone the inside would be darker right?....just not sure with this one. Found in a gravel load from the bed of the Brazos River near the West Houston Texas area.

    Which bone is this?

Not really expecting to find out what animal this is from but I would really like to know what part of the body this bone is from.
  13. This "rock" was interesting to me because of it's smoothed angles & interesting horizonal lines on inside. Feels polished with so many angles. About 1 11/16 long by 1.5" by 1/2" at thickest point. Found in mountains of East Tennessee. Color is actually more brown than photos, not black. Please see all pics for angles. Any info appreciated!

    Calcaneus id (Hippopotamus?)

Hi, This bone was found in Israel (in the bottom a small lake) with a few other bones. Is it possible to ID it? My main thought is Hippo but I am not an expert and would love a confirmation or if I'm wrong, an identification. Thank you very much in advance, Oz

    Petrified Wood with a bone?

Hey Folks, My son and I found a bunch of petrified wood close to our house up here in Cochrane, Alberta. Could the piece next to the wood be bone? E&B

    Microscope enlargement

Hello! I tried to look at a texture of a rock under a microscope to see if it's a fossil and I realised that I have no idea what's the right enlargement to see the unick texture that bones have. If anyone knows what is the right enlargement to see the texture of a bone under a microscope please tell me.

    Bison metatarsal?

I didn't have much luck trying to ID a group of bones so thought I would try just one and maybe I can figure the rest out. It's from a creek that's all QAL not far from Trinity river. Passed the burn test, it's worn so makes it even harder for me, leaning toward bison. Would appreciate a definite ID!
  18. Travismbrown

    Not sure what this is.

Hello all, I was digging boulders out of our creek at our ranch and came across this Boulder with what looked like fossilized bone protruding. I have zero knowledge on such things and was hoping someone could help me identify if it even is a fossil and what it might be. Our ranch is located near camp wood, TX and the Boulder was pulled from bullhead creek.
  19. Hello all, I'm making my fourth trip to Venice in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone knows of any good land sites in the area, or further inland to where one might find Bone Valley teeth. Would also enjoy the company if you have a secret spot that you don't want to disclose the location of. I'll be diving in Venice a few days and maybe a trip out to Peace River, but I've always wanted to find a good Florida land site.

    Mystery Femur

Found this in a creek off of peace river, way way out. It’s not fossilized but it is old for sure. It appears to be a femur of some sort, but I can’t figure out what it belongs to? It is 9 inches long.

    Unknown rib bone

Hello, I have what I believe to be a fossilzed rib fragment from the peace river in florida. I thought it was a dewgong rib bone at first but on the busted side it seems to be "spongy" instead of completely solid.
  22. Josesaurus rex

    Edmontosaurus rib?

Hello everybody. I bought this fossil. It is supposed to be an Edmontosaurus rib. According to the publication it is 70 Million Years Old Late Cretaceous Discovered - Alberia, Canada Horseshoe Formation. My doubts are the following: 1. Know if it is indeed from Edmontosaurus (from what I have seen on the Internet, I think so, but I want to confirm) 2. Know if you could tell me to which part of the animal it could have belonged approximately (if closer to the neck or closer to the pelvis) 3. For some small reconstructions that can be seen in a dark brown color, find out if others could have been made that are more difficult to see or if the fossil could have been painted. Personally, I think it could have been painted, because I see it very bright and very uniform in color. But I would still like to know your opinion, who are more knowledgeable on the matter.

    Bone identification

Hey Everyone I found this at Twelve Mile Coulee. Any idea on what it is?

    Is this a bone?

Hi, Found this while working. Looks like a bone, not sure what it is? Any suggestions or help appreciated. TIA

    Bison bone?

Hey Everyone, Found this yesterday out at the NSR. Although there were a quite a few modern bones around. I think it was a calf that died due to the skull I found. This stood out as being close in color to the other bison bone I found. Mass is much more than the modern bones found. Also had some of the black soil in it. I did the burn test and no smell. Any help is greatly appreciated.
