    Fossil vertebra?

Hi everyone, I found this bone on the beach (mediterranean sea), it's really heavy, really like a stone and not like a bone. I suppose it could be a fossil vertebra of a big animal, it's similar to some cranial vertebrae (atlas) of cetaceans. What do you think could be? In the area of finding there are marine formations from pliocene to pleistocene. Dimensions: 11x5x3 cm.
  2. Good day all! Spent a couple hours down at the beach (Milnerton,Cape Town) yesterday - unfortunately it was a bit of a quite day. Only came across one tooth and some interesting bones I wasn’t able to identify.

    Onslow Beach Bone Fragment

Good afternoon, my husband found this bone fragment (?) while walking Onslow Beach in Jacksonville, NC. Can anyone identify if it is indeed bone and what it could possibly be from? Thank you very much.

    Toe bone? Southeast Utah

Dinosaur bone fossil from South East UTAH. KAIPAROWITS FORMATION. It is from the CRETACEOUS AGE. I am guessing a toe bone, hopefully from a tyrannosaur, but not married to that idea. Any ideas?

    Disease or wound growth?

I dug this bone up and it has obvious bone growth beyond the ordinary. It does look as if there is a chunk missing which may have been a bite mark, perhaps during a mating fight or the like since it does not appear to be from a shark bite. Mid. Miocene, Temblor Formation, Bakersfield, California What do you suppose is the cause? This shows a bite out of the bone, but isn't consistent with a shark bite pattern.

    Vertebra fossil

Hi! I found this fossil near the Harpeth River in Nashville. I located it near the foundation of a long abandoned 19th century building. It appears to be a vertebra. It is about 5 inches across. Does anyone know what it could possibly be from? Thanks!

    Possible Bone Fragment

Hello! I’m hoping to identify this fossil I found while wandering a mesa just south of Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was laying neatly in the sand just waiting to be found. The pits on the end look very much like bone marrow. I chose to leave it at the ranch where I found it, so I only have one pic. I could get more if needed! Thanks!

    Hell Creek fossil ID needed

I have this fossil fragment here from Hell Creek, Montana. It came with a large shipment of edmontosaurus and triceratops bone. But I'm hoping to identify what type of bone this could be? Perhaps fragment of a scapula? Just wondering if anyone could shed light on this? It's very thin and has a slight curve and nice marks on the bone. Any help would be awesome! Thank you.

    Animal/Mineral/Vegetable?

I found this "thing" in North Myrtle Beach, SC. It's hard but looks like old sheet insulation. Note the dent. Any idea? Thanks!

    Bone of ????

Hi everyone, does anyone know this bone, sold as a mammoth bone? It is more like a bison or bovine bone. Provenance: North Europe

    Should I consolidate?

I found what I think is a leg bone of a mastadon or something of that size. It was in a creek and has now been dried out for about 2 weeks...at what point should I consider sealing it with something?...I dont want to do it too soon and trap in moisture. I posted a pic 10 days ago or so...still no one has id'd it.

    Fossil or not

Hello, Jsut hiking today here in Mallorca, near Andratx, and found this, looks like a bone, but I'm not sure. What do you think? I made a short video as well: in the same area we have found some nice ammonite.. But the question is the stone: is it a fragment of a bone, or just a congl.?

    Flag Ponds - New find

I went hunting on Sunday at Flag Ponds & found this interesting, probable Cetacean bone. I would appreciate your help with an ID, of what body part, if possible. The piece is about 7.25 cm long & 5 cm wide. The hole is big enough to hold a sharpened pencil. Thanks for looking.

    Bone ID

Found this in a ditch in Summerville, SC. It seems like a vertebra but I’m unsure and could use some help. I don’t know the exact formation that ditch was but it could’ve been chandler bridge. The top corner is broken off.

    Tampa Bay ID Help

Hello, I need some help identifying a fossil I found today. It was found at a ‘beach’ inside of Tampa Bay that has been artificially nourished with dredge material. I regularly find sharks teeth, sting ray fossils, agatized coral, etc at this location. At first I thought this was some sort of sea bean but it is definetly fossilized. It is about an inch long and 1/4 inch wide. Any ideas? Thank you!

    Need help identifying gift (mammal?)

I recently was given a fossil as a gift. As I understand it, the seller does not know where it was found or has any idea what it is. There is some writing on the side which I’ll attach a picture of. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Fossilized bone identification.

I bought this fossilized bone at a flea market for my son. I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject but would love to tell him more information about this piece. The original owner did not know what it was, other than suggesting it could be from a woolly mammoth. It measures about 4.5" x 3". The bottom is naturally completely flat with two smaller flat spots nearby. I'd love to learn more about what this could be, some other people have suggested dinosaur but I'm in Florida and I'm not sure if this piece is local or not.

    Unknown marine fossils

During a trip I purchased a container of small marine fossils. I could identify almost all of them except for a few. Age, location, etc. unknown. Does anyone know what they could be? P.S. feel free to ask for more pictures.

TN gal needing ID of fossil find?

I found some interesting bones/rock/fossils?? Needing help to determine if they are really fossils. Found in North Central Arkansas on an exposed / eroding hill side leading to a river. I dug many of these out of red sticky clay. I really appreciate any help I can get, I’ve had these for 2 years and it’s finally time to see if I unearthed a remarkable find. Fingers crossed

    Possible bone fragment from Beaumaris

This specimen was found from beaumaris beach, victoria. Is it a fossil bone fragment? More pictures to come. It will only let me post one for some reason :/
  22. I found this last year in the sand at Venice Beach, FL. It doesn’t appear to be fully fossilized. I’m guessing it’s from an animal? I’m really not sure at all. Could it be from a bird beak? The white part almost looks like wood but I think it’s actually bone and then it blends into translucent material that feels smooth like enamel on a nail. It’s about 4 inches long and extremely sharp and pointy. It could impale you. Any ideas? Thanks!!

I found these three bones, Help I.D?

Hi! I have asked about these on my facebook group, and one I have asked my state museum about, The first one I found looks like a hip bone possibly (I forgot what he had called it) He was thinking ot could be a Horse or Bison. The second is a longer skinnier bone, I found it close to the place that I found the first one, I noticed it has four holes, one on each side and at the top and bottom is that normal? I have no clue to what this one came from and might not ever find out but I just think both are soo cool! I also found a very odd bone stuck in what I think is limestone, on my facebook group everyone said it was rust...I'm legit like 100000% sure it's bone but everyone thought different, I even etched around the bone on the limestone to make the bone much more prominent, what do you all think? All were found in my backyard which is a large wooded area the two full bones where found in a creek back there and the one in limestone was found after a heavy rain on a slope **I'll post the rest in the comments below**
