Two trips, some amazing fossils, and a note to the forum (Middle August, 2022)
Jared C posted a blog entry in Trip Reports
Recently, my good friend Carter ( @Jackito ) found my personal holy grail of Texas Cretaceous sharks - Pseudomegachasma comanchensis While I knew of the existence of the genus here in Texas, I didn't know much about the teeth themselves as I never was really that convinced I'd ever find one. But Carter's find proved it's possible, and what's better... he found it at a site we both knew of! So, we went out together in an effort to find another. What's better is that I had suspicions about that site's age for a while, and the finding of his tooth attests to the late cen- 2 comments

Hi, I feel this is a silly question to ask, since I should know by now how to identify Pliosaur teeth, and I am mostly certain this in indeed a Pliosaur tooth but anytime I am going to spend plenty of money on a fossil, I feel like I should just spend a minute making a thread on this forum just to confirm. The tooth is 4cm in length & comes from the Akrabou Formation in Morocco (a little bit of restoration on one side which the seller has made clear about). Thank you!

First off, we have a mosasaur tooth from the Ozan Formation of Fannin County. Knowing that the NSR flows inside Fannin County and is also part of the Ozan Formation, This tooth is probably also from the NSR itself. Although the seller didn't have time to do a full ID on the tooth and simply labeled it as unidentified, by extensive comparing with other mosasaur teeth from the area, I can promp

Brachauchenius lucasi finds are more based in Kansas, but examples in Eagle Ford Texas have been found, most notably Willison's 1907 second B. lucasi skull which has been found in the same area. There is a possibility that this tooth could actually be Polyptychodon hudsoni which have been also found in Eagle Ford, but based on the morphology of the tooth (especially the root part near the crown), I think it is more likely B. lucasi.
