Hello everyone, I write from Italy and I wanted to compliment the completeness of the forum. I have been dealing with Fossils for only 3 years and I registered to improve my currently very poor knowledge. I will allow myself to post some photos of my fossils, to have a Vs. advice on their classification. I apologize for my English but I use an online translator. Vinicio

First trip of the year today to the "Fossil Gardens" at Paulding, Ohio. This is quarry spoil of mid-Devonian age, Silica Formation. There was not a cloud in the sky, and temps were relatively warm at 43 deg. F. I was the only one there for most of the day, and it was extremely peaceful. What a great day. Here are pics of some of the finds. These are "farm fresh" and haven't even been washed yet, but I did take time to polish some horn corals and get some acetate peels (couldn't wait). A large Cystiphylloides rugose coral.

Thanks to @minnbuckeye who gave me a site suggestion to an Iowa Devonian locality when I was on my way to the White River Formation of Nebraska, I was able to satisfy my palaeozoic fix this past June. Here are my finds (scale in photos is cm/mm): Orthospirifer cf. O. cooperi Strophodonta sp. Cranaena sp.

Years of collecting the strand line in Asbury Park, NJ, have revealed a lot of the rarer elements of the modern shallow marine fauna, as well as of the Cretaceous marine biota whose fossils wash up there. But this month I was astounded to come across this shell, which I believe to be a craniid brachiopod's dorsal valve. Based on its condition I can't be sure whether it's modern, subfossil, or even Cretaceous. It's matrix-free and shows signs of having been encrusted by cheilostome bryozoa. Can someone confirm or refute this ID? Can someone with expertise in the Cretaceous coastal plain comment on the likelihood of this specimen's possible Cretaceous origin? Thanks!

Hello, I am hoping someone familiar with the brachiopods of the Mineral Wells Fossil Park, TX (Late Pennsylvanian) and vicinity, might recognize this taxon. It looks to me like an Athyrididae. Perhaps Cleiothyridina sp.?. @BobWill ? I also have some Punctospirifer cf. P. kentuckiensis from the same site. Here's the specimen in question. Thanks for any help.

This is a trip to St. Leon, Indiana (Late Ordovician), that I took on Tuesday the 28th. Weather was cloudy, 66 deg. F. Conditions were wet and muddy, but a lot of fresh material had weathered out and was exposed from the winter. More or less typical finds. The complete Ambonychia steinkern was the trip-maker for me. Here is a view of the roadcut.
