Found this by Brazos River near Sealy. Could it be human? Specifically, could it be a left tibia bone (left lower leg)?

I’ve had this chunk of bone for a while and not been able to get an ID on it. It is from the Brazos River in SE. Texas, Pleistocene material. Any ideas? @Harry Pristis, @fossilus, @Shellseeker @jcbshark @Uncle Siphuncle @JohnJ

I found this today on the Brazos River in SE Texas. At first I thought it was a chunk of a vertebra. After washing some mud off I was surprised to see teeth with roots extending to the broken ends of a mandible. Based on the shape of the teeth I think it is a xenarthran, but which one???

I found this small stone it had a couple odd tiny items on it which i looked at under the microscopic camera and photographed. The stone itself was about an inch to two inches I thought I had a photo of it but did not and it now lies in one of several buckets of other stones here somewhere. The first item is striped and about the size of a half grain of rice?...the other was even smaller. any ideas what these are?

found in gravel from Brazos river here in west Houston it appears to be a very tiny claw but will let the more experienced determine also there is what appears to be a small bone also took a pic of it with micro scope camera. I guess another possibility could be a tiny tooth?

Interesting fossilized bone texture. Large mammal. Brazos River, TX
Brookie13 posted a topic in Fossil ID
Hi Everyone, I found an interesting large bone fragment in the Brazos River, outside of Harris County, Texas. The fragment has a thick sidewall, so I am guessing it is from a large mammal, possibly mammoth. The thing that I can't wrap my head around is the odd pocket-like texture exhibited on one side of the bone. Could these odd pockets help in the identification of this fossil? Also, I have attached a picture of 2 antlers from the Brazos. They both look like they are whitetail deer antlers to me. One is much larger than the other, possibly due to age and nutrition of the animal? Thanks for checking them out.- 11 replies

When I picked this up I assumed it was modern domestic dog. However, there is a little bit of cancellous bone on the labial side that does not feel spongy at all. It is fairly mineralized. I’ve tried comparing this between domestic dog and coyote And see similarities to both. Please help if you can!

I have seen nothing like this bone before and have no idea how to start attempting to identify it. I've been through the gallery of @Harry Pristis and seen nothing there. I can't tell how complete it is, but I think there are some good diagnostic features there.
