I know, this sounds somewhat stupid but try to keep an open mind. I came across some rocks that had what looked like gemstone bubbles in them, did not have a clue as to what I was looking at. I contacted a geochemist to see if maybe he could shed a bit of light on what I was looking at and was told that these rocks appear to be preserving an act of outgassing. He said that somehow these rocks appear to have been exposed to an environment that has caused them to reach their boiling point and release gas bubbles. Was told that he has never seen anything like this and can not explain how this could have happened. These stones will set off a metal detector and are magnetic. I'm told that they appear to be high in feldspar, pyroxene, olivine and plagioclase. Has anyone ever come across anything like this???

I found these in the creek back in September, this is the only pic I took (just now happened upon it in my files) and I can't find them to retake pics. The largest rock, the black one in the right of the frame, is no bigger than 2" at it's widest measurement, if that helps. I'm just really curious about what would make these little bubble-like formations printed on a rock like this. Bubbles?

about 6 years ago I found both of these oddballs in the bottom of Lake Murray in Carter County, Oklahoma. One is what appears to be fossilized 1/4' bubbles that extend up off of the cluster of bubbles, the other is a very smooth, flat rock that looks like a carving of some sort, and has a lip on one side on the bottom. they were found in less than 6 feet of water with a muddy bottom. the strange thing is that Lake murray is manmade, dug sometime in the forties. also, if you don't mind, what is a good place to buy small fossils(shells, trilobites, small fish, etc.) and cheaper gems/minerals?there isn't a very good shop or site to find them anywhere near here. Thanks!
