A nice Dictyonema flabelliforme dendroid graptolite from Oslo Fields in Norway. It's Tremadoc, Lower Ordovician in age and is thus maybe around 480 mya. Another angle :

Just wanted to share one of my favorite Trilobite Hash Plates. It contains pygidiums, pygidial spines and cephalons from Gabicerarus mifflinesis, a free cheek from Isotelus species and a cephalon of Bumastoides milleri. It's from the Mifflin member of the Platteville formation, Grant County, Wisconsin. Ordovician period. Hope you enjoy.

Hello, Roommates! I received this little trilobite as part of my Secret Santa package, and, though i know the eyes are missing, and parts of the pygidium etc., am rather fond of the little fellow. The label with it said Illaenus americanus and it was said to be from the Galena Limestone, Upper Ordovician nr, Postville, North East Iowa, a quarry or a roadcutting. Now the first thing I discovered, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that the name is no longer valid and this is now Thaleops laurentiana. And on looking closer, it doesn't seem to be it at all. I also discovered this (second item down, left hand margin : http://www.robertcharleswolf.net/newsletter942186.htm So it could actually be Maquoketa Formation, Elgin Member. The specimen seems to have 10 segments in the thorax so I'm thinking B. porrectus or B. beckeri. Any help greatly appreciated, here are a few photos:

I found this in a newly created quarry about the middle of the Elgin member, Maquoketa formation, upper Ordovician of Fayette County Iowa last week. I'm thinking (judging from the little indentations on what I think is a cephalon) that this is some sort of Bumastoides?? I have never found one and it seems a fair bit larger (45mm x 35mm) than what the research that I have of this area indicates. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I found my first whole bug, and it's a Bum! Lol I think..... I believe this to be a Bumastoides billingsi. Am I correct? As found After my joke of a prep (I can't wait to get some professional prep equipment)
