Recently you could find "many" bones and teeth in a "Bonebed" in a quarry near Buttenheim in Germany. Too bad I was a bit too late to search in this Bonebed. As I was there it was still possible to find something but the layer was buried under about 1 meter dirt. So I couldn't really find something there. All bones and teeth come from the Toarcian. This thread of @Kasia inspired me to buy some teeth and bones from there too. So thank you for the inspiration Here are my acquirements: I bought three Steneosaurus (crocodile) teeth: The first one is about 1. 3 cm long: Detailed: The next one is a big one with a length of 2 cm. This one was found in Altdorf: The last one is damaged and small (0.8 cm long) Beside of these Croc teeth I also bought some Ichthyosaur material from there: A 1.1 cm long tooth which could be quite nice if someone didn't glued it that bad... I am not sure what I will do with this one because there seems to be another tooth in the matrix and I will maybe try to break it and glue it a bit better. Too bad the teeth are extremely fragile so I am not sure what I will do... And another small Ichthyosaur tooth with a length of 0.6 cm: And last but not least three small Ichthyosaur vertebrae: All three are a bit bigger than 2 cm. All in all I have to say that I am quite satisfied with my purchase expecially because I didn't had to pay too much money for them. Thanks for viewing

I just find some time to post some other finds from my last tour ... Besides this: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/72771-new-finds-from-mistelgau/#comment-766199 http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/72434-a-very-beautiful-quarry I was also in a quarry near Buttenheim (at the same day). As many of you know its a very famous quarry where you can find nice white ammonites (mostly Pleuroceras) from the lower Jurassic. I didnt spend much time there so my finds arent spectacular ... Here are some of them: The smaller ones: I think nearly all of them are Pleuroceras sp. ... And some detailed pictures: A nice 5 cm big one: Another smaller one (3 cm): A nice 6 cm big spinal

Original shell material. This species has a wide range of variation. Not all specimens have such pronounced spines.

Remnants of the original aragonite shell were still on this fossil when found, but they were removed in order to expose the pyritized steinkern mold. The overwhelming majority of the fossils at Buttenheim show this type of preservation, although pure or partial calcite molds also occur. This is also the index fossil for the solare subzone, which is only recognized in Germany. For information on identification of this species see Pleuroceras spinatum under Collections. The second part of my little trip through some quarries in Bavaria. Here you can see the first part: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/68791-fossils-from-bavaria-part-1/ After my visit in Mistelgau i was in a quarry near Buttenheim. Too bad that it was still rainy so i couldnt search longer than 2 hours (Yes i dont have that much stamina ). I was about 4 times in Buttenheim before (finds), but every time i admire the color of them ... This time i also found some cool ammonites ... The better examples: Most of them arent good preserved and they are often very instable. I think most (nearly all) are Pleuroceras sp. Some detailed photos: The first one is very nice although its broken. The specimen is 4 cm long and well preserved: This one is a bit damaged, but 7 cm long ...
