Shark tooth - Sphenodus longidens? Oxford Clay (Q. lamberti subzone)

Hello, If you have seen my prior posts, it would appear I'm on a lucky streak... I found the blade of this sharks tooth at the fleet, Weymouth It is from the middle Oxford Clay (Upper callovian) - specifically the Q. Lamberti/ C. scarburgense subzone bondary I believe it is Sphenodus longidens, though it is hard to tell without the root! Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated Cheers, Jacob.

Pre-apologies for the picture, it is rather small and doesn't pick up well on my camera... Nonetheless, can anyone help identify this tooth? I have the name on the tip of my tongue, but my books are not with me to help identify it...

Hello, I am looking for help identifying a specimen collected during field work for my dissertation. The piece was collected from the Lower Oxford Clay (jason zone) in Peterborough, Cambs. I suspect that it is Ischyodus egertoni, but am not positive whatsoever! Any thoughts would be appreciated Cheers, Jacob.

I just sort of hijacked one of Nimravis' topics to show these finds, so I figured it'd be better if I continued the story here. I took off for my first proper hunt in a couple of months this morning in the hopes that the bit of snow we'd had hadn't decked the site in the Wutach valley that I had chosen. As luck would have it, it was still relatively pristine, so I was able to spend about 4 hours digging away in a familiar embankment in the search for some nice Callovian ammonites. This time the Gods were with me, so it looks like I've got a bit of prepping to do. The ammos appear to belong mostly to the Macrocephalites family, but there are some other species and also a couple of echinoids represented. I think I'll start with the one on the left. It's a double, although you can't see the smaller one at the top all that well.

4 days of fossil hunting on the coast of Northern France

This Christmas I spent 4 days of fossil hunting with my girlfriend on the French coast. The planning was 2 days in Normandy at the "Vaches Noires" cliffs in villers sur mer and one day at Cap blanc Nez near Calais ( we finally extended the trip with one extra day near Boulogne sur mer ) Day 1: The first day we got at Villers sur mer after a 4h drive from home. Once at the cliffs we had to wait a little while since the tide wasn't low enough, but the beginning of the cliffs were already accessible. The fossil fauna was very variable, we found echinoid spines, echinoids, gastropods, bivalves ( lots of oysters like rastellum ) , ammonites ( mostly fragments ), brachiopods... Our best find of the day was a complete Cardioceras sp. Day 2 started with a visit to the local museum. in the afternoon we got back to the beach. Natalie found 2 ammonites, one of them was a really nice Euaspidoceras. On day 3 we went back North to Boulogne sur mer, here we looked through late Jurassic deposits. Day 4: The last day of our field trip, we visited the late cretaceous of "Cap Blanc Nez"

Callovian Brachiopoda for trade SPECIMENS ALREADY TRADED

Last weekend I collected a few large Callovian Rhynchonellida. I will trade these for Atrypida and/or Spiriferida. Thank you. ps. I have other Brachiopoda species from same spot.

@TqB Typical fractured belemnite Cylindroteuthis pusozianna guard but with curvature towards the tip, could this be a preservational feature or maby some sort of pathology. From the Lower Oxford Clay, Peterborough formation, Callovian stage.

As I was putting together labels with photos containing microscopic images of inclusions in coprolites, I came across something that I may have misidentified as a fish tail and vertebrae in a very small coprolite. After looking at it again, the tail looks more like a shrimp or crawfish tail than that of a fish. What I thought were fish vertebrae, look more like crustacean arm joints/elements. Can anyone please confirm this for me? Thanks a bunch! Formation: Oxford Clay (Jurassic - Callovian) Location: Orton Pit, near Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England

Hi all, Earlier in spring, i had to organise a field trip to "les Vaches Noires" cliffs in Normandy for my association. I decided i should do a trip earlier solo (in february) to see how it had evolved since my last visit. It happened to be kinda useless since with thaw and heavy rains it had evolved so much between my 2 visits... Epoches covered are mainly jurassic (caloivan and oxfordian) but also cretaceous (cenomanian). For pictures of the site itself, you can have a peek to Nala's recent report here : On first visit, i didnt find much that worth mentionning beside a bunch of oxfordian echinoids : nucleolites scutatus and a big ammonites (a bit worn out but still) from oxfordian also : Perisphinctes sp The club trip happened to be much rewarding : In the callovian clay from the beach, i found this nice pyritized Quenstedoceras lamberti On the lower part of the "cliff", i managed to find this one : Quenstedtoceras messiaeni ? and also that oxfordian big gastropod : bourguetia sp Also put my hand on a few complete echinoid spines Paracidaris florigemma spines : On the close up of the bigger one you can see the quality of the preservation : As usual, more samples can be found on my TFF gallery (i also added 2 specimens from 2017 i hadn't shot yet) or on my flickr :
