Found in the North Saskatchewan River (Alberta). I've received some guesses that it could be equine or bovine, do you agree? It's also definitely fossilized so cant be too modern.

I found this clam buried in mud along Joshua’s Creek in Oakville, near Lake Ontario, the hotspot of Ordovician fossils. Measurements are 7cm by 6cm. I’m particularly intrigued by the growth rings, since they protrude out rather visibly and considering I’ve never seen this in any other kind of fossil or living clam species. Can anyone help with identifying what species of fossil clam this is?

Hi fellow fossil collector, can you identify this brachiopod for me? I recently found a very different brachiopod, where I usually collect my fossils in an Upper Ordovician formation (Click here to see the site). I can easily find hundreds of swerbyella, but this fossil is very different from what I usually find, its huge size, 3 times larger than any fossil i usually find, and its different shape puzzles me. It measures approximately 3cm x 2.5cm. It also has intriguing concentric protuberances composed of a primary and secondary shell on external shell surface. As you can see it is very fragile, there is a crack going through it which is about to break it in half. Is there a way to consolidate the crack without damaging it further? Thank you!

Mammoths and other large animals survived in the north much longer than previously believed. New DNA research indicates that the climate, not humans, led to the demise of these large creatures, Norway Science, January, 2022 The open access paper is: Wang, Y., Pedersen, M.W., Alsos, I.G., De Sanctis, B., Racimo, F., Prohaska, A., Coissac, E., Owens, H.L., Merkel, M.K.F., Fernandez-Guerra, A. and Rouillard, A.,2021. Late Quaternary dynamics of Arctic biota from ancient environmental genomics. Nature, 600(7887), pp.86-92. It concludes that mammoths survived in continental northeast Siberia until 7,300 BP; North America until 8,600 BP; and the Taimyr Peninsula as late as 3,900 BP. Yours, Paul H.

In Search of Canadian Eurypterid Material
MarcusFossils posted a topic in Member-to-Member Fossil Trades
Hi all, I know this is a tall order, but does anyone have any Canadian eurypterids they'd be interested in trading? Here's on piece I could offer in exchange (see attached). It's a slab with Archaeocrinus and Pleurocystites, over a foor tall. I'd also trade this for rare trilobites... Cheers! -
My trilobite/crinoid/arthropod collection: I tried to condense it down to the rarest specimens and the best ones I've found myself.
