Is it fossils or geological formations

Can anyone tell me if these are actual fossils or just geological formations, although they look like fossilize plants to me, it would be very surprising to find fossilized plants from the late Ordovician period. both rocks were found in the Nicolet River Formation on the banks of the Richelieu river
  23. Interesting pieces I found not sure on other piece but would guess either arm, leg, toe, or finger. The toe piece is 7 centimeters long. The other piece is 2 inches long. The toe part is cool for I think the creature stubbed his toe a little to hard . These were both found in glacial till in northern Pennsylvania. Any idea on toe specie and other piece what part of area? Thanks.
  24. Hello! New user here... My boyfriend and I have been doing some exploring around the badlands here in Alberta, and lately we've been mostly wandering around north of Tolman. We've found a few cool fossils, but we're both having a hard time putting all our research into practice. Trying to learn the different formations and identifying the coal seams, but not having much luck. I've read some of the documents that describe the scollard formation, but when I'm climbing the hills I honestly have no idea what I'm looking at. Is there anyone in Alberta that frequents these areas that can offer some insight or tips? If you're looking to pass on some knowledge, or even have us tag along on a hike or two, that would be amazing. The picture is some of my best surface finds so far.

    Fossil or Xenolith?

Look I found a thing! Usually when I see a rock embedded in another rock I think fossil... however IF this is a fossil I have no idea what it would be. So at this point im thinking maybe its another Xenolith. What are your thoughts? For anyone interested, this was found near Vancouver Canadia.
